**Americas POV

I wake with a crippling headache the morning after the best night of my life. Last night I got married to the one and only Maxon Schreave. I lay in bed my amazing husband right next to me. I didn't want to wake him so I carefully get out of bed slip on my slippers and robe and as quietly as I can leave the room. I walk along the quiet halls not knowing what time it was when I here a guard speak "Queen America is everything all right? Why are you out of bed?" I turn at the sound of my name "oh I was just headed to the kitchen for a glass of water" the guard still looked suspicious while he said " was there no water in your room Miss?" I reply with "yes there was but I wanted to get it for myself" the guard nods and says "okay then I will let you be on your way" and steps back to his post.

I keep walking, my head pounding with every step I took. Once I finally made it to the kitchen I pushed open the big doors and immediately warm air washes over me. "Oh Queen America...what can I do for you?" One of the kitchen maids asks "Could I have a glass of water?" I ask and sit down in a chair next to a table. "Yes of course" the worker says and rushes off to get a glass out of the cupboard and fill it with water. I take the glass from her and sip it slowly hoping it would help my headache. After I finish the water I stand up thank the kitchen worker and leave hoping that Maxon had not woken up and realized I was gone.

**Maxons POV

I wake when I here the a door close and I assumed that it was just America going to the bathroom. So ignored it and tried to go back to sleep. I tossed and turned for probably 10 minutes before I gave up, sleep was never really my thing. When I turned over again I realized America still was not there. I got up and looked over at the bathroom door— it was open. I dashed over to the bedroom door hoping that some guard had seen her.

When I made it to the main level and walked over to one of the guards and asked if they had seen America

"Yes sir, she said she was going to the kitchen"

I nodded. "Thank you" I said and headed in the direction of the kitchen. What could America possibly want from the kitchen at 2 o'clock in the morning! Once I arrived at the big doors of the kitchen I pushed them open and almost hit America as she was on her way out.

"What are you doing down here? I was worried" by the look on her face I could tell that I shouldn't be worried any more because I was about to get a lecture about why I shouldn't worry. But how could I not...I don't know what I would do with myself if I lost America

"I'm fine. I just came down here for a glass of water." She says and starts to head back to our room

"Water? Really? You could not have gotten that from our room?" I say puzzled

"No, I wanted to get it for myself" She says and struts away

Okay now I was confused. "It's 2 am" I say trying to figure out what was going on

"I just wanted to get out okay" she says. Now I could tell something was wrong...who wants to just go for a walk at 2 am!

"Okay what's wrong? I know we just got married yesterday but I can still tell when something is wrong" I say smiling at how well I knew her. Then it dawned on me 'we were only married yesterday'— what if she was having second thoughts about marrying me, and taking the thrown?! And that's why she seems so distant right now.

"Nothing is wrong let's just go back to bed." She says kinda sluggishly.

"Okay my dear" I say eyeing her to see how she reacted...nothing, no playful glare, no "I'm not your dear" That worries me.

**Americas POV

When we finally made it back to our room...that walk had felt like hours with Maxon asking all of his questions. I know he was just worried about me but I really needed that walk to hopefully calm my headache.

In the morning I woke to Maxons kisses. "Maxon stop it!" I said. My head still pounding.

"Good morning my dear" he says. "Are you ready for breakfast?"

I moan. I really just wanted to stay in bed and sleep. But knew that wasn't an option so I get out of bed and go into the bathroom to get dressed.

I could hear Maxon say "are you sure you are all right my dear? You really startled me last night"

I nod my head even though he could not see me. "Yes I am quite all right" I say hoping he would drop the subject.

After breakfast Maxon pulls me aside again. "You seem off, I can't tell if it was last night catching up on you or something is actually wrong" he says.

He was so cute when we was worried. "I'm fine. Now don't worry about me and go do your king things" I say. That gets a laugh out of him but I can still tell he doesn't believe me.

After a long day in the Women's room with my head still beating like it is going to burst open at any second I am able to go up to my room to get ready for dinner.

As soon as I climb the huge staircase leading to our room I burst through the door and plop down on the bed. Maxon was not there yet but I didn't mind I could use a moment of quiet, and within a couple of minutes I was asleep.

**Maxons POV

I came in to America passed out on our bed. So I decided to let her be and go to dinner by myself. When I was finished I went back up to our room and found that she was still sleeping. As quietly as I could I slid into bed with her but could tell that I had woken her up. "Hello my dear, I didn't mean to wake you"

"It's okay" she mumbles "is it time to get ready for dinner?" She asks.

I laugh "sweetheart dinner already happened" she glanced up at me confused. "I let you sleep through it" I said

"Oh wow" she says surprised. I looked at my beautiful wife and just had to know "America my dear?" She shifts to get a better look at me "yes..." I gulp "are you having second thoughts?" I ask.

She looks at me stunned "Maxon how could you ever think that!" She says sounding a little offended.

"I don't know, I just thought with the whole things last night maybe you were regretting marrying me" I say glad to know that she wasn't.

"Oh Maxon no. I had a headache last night and just wanted some water. I could never regret marrying a man like you" she says a slight smile in her face by the end.

"Oh! Why didn't you just say you had a headache?" I ask a little confused.

"I didn't want to worry you...but it looks like I did just that" she says with a laugh.

I sigh "you know you can tell me anything any time" I say. She nods and with that we drift to sleep in each other's arms.
