Chapter 9: A royal visit

**Daphnes POV

It has been 3 days since I sent Maxon that letter. I was ready to take back my man, or I guess to take the thrown-but he doesn't need to know that.

I first have to fly back to France so it doesn't look like I've been in a Rebel camp for the past few days.

About 5 hours later I was on a plane to Illea. I arrived at the palace around 5 pm. I told a guard that I wished to see Prince Maxon.

**Maxons POV

I heard a knock at my door. "Come in" I called. A guard walks in and says "your majesty Princess Daphne is here to see you." I look at him. What! Why is she here? I think to myself.

I dismiss the gaurd and go down stairs to see what Daphne wants. As soon as I get into her sight she runs at me and practically tackles me to the ground. "Oh Maxon I am so sorry about America" she says as she hugs me.

I pull away. "Oh umm thank you" I say really confused because Daphne always seemed to hate America, all the same I brushed the thought away.

"I was hoping I could stay here for a little while" she said with a little sniffle.

I looked down at her and cocked an eyebrow "Umm sure if you would like. But why?" I ask not quiet understanding what she wanted.

"Me and Chet broke up" she said all of a sudden "I need to be away" she says and looks at the ground.

"You mean you and your husband are just all of a sudden not together" I said in complete confusion.

"Yes...it happened last night" she said and sunk  into my arms. I lift her up "okay well a guard will show you to your room" I say and walk away.

I new exactly why Daphne was here. She wasn't here to "get away" she was here to take me back- and I was not going to let that happen. I have never had feeling for her and I never will.

**1 day after Daphne comes to the palace

**America POV

I knew that Daphne had already gone to the Palace so it was time for me and the girls to put our plan into action!

Around 3:30 I went to the cottage in the woods to see if the others were ready. I knocked on the door and Kriss ushered me inside. "Does everyone remember the plan?" I ask and they all nod.

"Okay you Natalie, and Elise you go first me and Kriss will be right behind you" I say and they leave the room.

**Elises POV

"Are you scared?" I ask Natalie as we start to walk towards the front entrance. She shakes her head.

The plan was that me and Natalie were going to knock out the two guards at the front and then put on there uniforms. Then Kriss and America would come out and we would let them pass and then they would to the palace to deliver a letter to Maxon.

Me and Natalie crept up behind each guard  and then we tore off there helmets and used a stick to knock the out. It was the craziest thing I had done in a long time.

We pulled them into the forest area and hid them behind a bush. We put in there uniforms which where much to big and then we waited.

**Americas POV

"It's been about 15 min let's head out" I said to Kriss. She nodded her head and we headed out the door.

Once we got to the front entrance we checked to make sure nobody was watching and that the guards were actually Elise and Natalie.

They smiled at us and me and Kriss ran out of the camp. I had the letter I was going to give to Maxon in my back pocket.

After a little while me and Kriss started to walk we didn't know how long it was going to take to get to the palace but we hoped that we would be there when Maxon was at dinner.

**A few hours later

It had felt like we had been walking forever when we finally saw the palace. "Kriss we made it" I say exhausted at the fact that we would have to do it again to get back, in the dark. "Could you read me the letter?" Kriss asks.

I nod and reach for my back pocket. I pull out the folded piece of paper and read it:

Dear Maxon,
This is America writing to you, I want to tell you that I am not dead. Daphne captured me and sent you a letter saying I was dead. All she wants is the thrown. She wants to marry you and then she wants me to come...kill you and your mom so she can rule Illea. It's awful Maxon but go along with whatever she says, I have a plan. Don't let her see this.

America

Kriss nods "that's good he needs to know the whole truth" she said.

When we get to the palace doors and guard is awestruck. "Queen America! Lady Kriss! What are you doing here!" He yells.

"Shhhh" I say and pull him aside. "We can't go in I just need you to deliver this letter to Maxon...when he is alone! That part is very important." I say to him.

"Queen America what is this about?" He asks but takes the letter from my hand anyways.

"Trust me please" I say. He nods "anything my Queen, but where are you hiding?" He asks

"I can't say. Just give that letter to Maxon as soon as he is alone" I say. He nods and walks off acting like nothing happened.

Me and Kriss turn around and walk very slowly back to the rebel camp, hoping that Elise and Natalie were still the fake guards and the real guards had not woken up.
