After the boys (no pun intended) were done celebrating, everyone was waiting outside the cars saying their goodbyes. The awkwardness between everyone was very prominent, especially the newly discovered soulmates. Both Kevin and Jacob barely looked at each other the rest of the day, and only when everyone else left did they finally go within a couple feet of each other.
"So..."
"Umm..."
Both boys chuckled as they spoke at the same time, gesturing for the other to speak first. Kevin clasped his hands together and awkwardly shifted his weight from one foot to the other. He didn't know what to say and his hands felt clammy. He wiped his palms on his pants and looked back up at the older, taking the slightest step forward.
"This is so much to handle at once." Jacob breathed out. He looked down at Kevins hands, which were now shoved into his pockets.
"Tell me about it," Kevin chuckled again, shaking his head, "who knew this was gonna happen, especially on a friends birthday."
"Yeah..." Jacobs speech trailed off as he looks back up at Kevin. The older smiled slightly at Kevin. He was staring at the ground with the most serious look on his face.
"I feel like this wouldn't be the ideal place to meet your soulmate, but I'm sure damn happy I did."
Kevin smiles at the blond's words, finally stopping his staring contest with the sidewalk. Jacob smiled at the younger.
To anyone on the street, the pair would look very strange. Two guys in their early twenties staring at each other with very soft smiles on their faces, hands stuffed in their pockets and awkward shifting between their feet.
"I wish we had time to hang out today, but it's actually getting pretty late," Jacob said, "I should head home."
Kevin nodded at the older, words of agreement hanging off his tongue. He finally brought his head up the whole way, looking Jacob in the eyes for the first time since before.
"Hopefully the next time we meet will be just us too." Jacob nodded at the younger, taking his phone out of his pocket at handing it to the younger. Kevin put his number in the phone, texting himself before handing it back.
Kevin started walking home, realizing his ride abandoned him. He looked back at Jacob and waved slightly, the smile from earlier making its way back on his face. He turned back around and continued walking.
Jacob only started walking home when he was positive Kevin was out of sight. He looked at his phone to see what Kevin has put his name as. He saw a text from the younger with the name "Kevin" with two red hearts next to it. He chuckled at the name and smiled, deciding not to change it.
He looked at the text the younger sent, and smiled brighter.
I can't believe I finally met my soulmate. It's nice to meet you. He read the text a couple times before finally putting his phone away and walking faster. He couldn't wait to see Kevin soon.———————
High key hating this story so might end it after the next chapter (which would probably be an epilogue.)At this point I don't really have much to say except I'm sorry for no updates but if you're reading this right after it's posted then I'm working on the epilogue right now.
Everyone stay home and stay safe! <3
