'Are you ready for this?' Erik asked as we got into our gear.'Sure am.' When we got to the water and I saw the Caspartina in my sights, I spoke. 'This is a long way from Switzerland!' He chuckled quietly.
'Agreed.' We went into the water and climbed up on the boat. When we got on, we sneaked through until we came to the main part of the deck. With vengeance in our hearts and knives in our hands, we walked onto the main deck. And there Shaw was, with Emma Frost.
'Ready to feel pain?' I snarled at Emma.
'Hardly,' she replied in that smooth voice of hers.
'Herr Doktor,' Erik spoke.
'Little Erik Lehnsherr. And he's brought his beautiful daughter with him. How nice.'
'You just wait until I'm done with you, Shaw. When I'm through, you will know what it feels like to have your heart ripped from you.' Just then I heard several voices in my head and screams. Dropping my knife, I fell to the deck, clutching my head and letting out screams of agony. I had never felt another telepath in my head before and this was pure pain. I saw many things flash before my eyes. Erik's memories and mine amalgamated in a painful blur of love and loss. I glared at Emma through my haze of pain, my eyes glowing a deep, angry blue.
'Emma...' Shaw admonished, clicking his tongue, 'we don't harm our own kind. Ah! Now it's a party.' I was confused. Shaw, a mutant? Just then we heard a voice ring out over a megaphone.
'This is the U.S. Coast Guard. Do not attempt to move your vessel. Stay where you are.' There was more commotion before I and Erik eventually were in the water, using our powers of telekinesis to destroy Shaw's ship in an attempt to kill him. I looked up and saw two men and a woman on the stern of the boat. I ignored the three of them, though Erik and I continued to uproot Shaw's submarine from the water. But it was taking a toll on the two of us and I was only now took into account that I could barely swim. I had been so filled with revenge for Shaw that I had forgot that my swimming abilities were limited. Erik and I both began to drown. I gulped down air frantically as I took in water.
'Dad!' I yelled. I don't think he heard me as I slipped into unconsciousness. Then I felt someone grab me around the waist as my tired mind relinquished its telekinetic hold. The last thing I heard before I completely blacked out was a gentle voice above me.
'Don't worry, Adelaide. I've got you...' And with that, I trailed off into a deep, dark sleep.
I awoke in a cot. Blinking, I let my senses come back to life. As I scanned the room, my eyes came to rest on a charming-looking young man who was sitting just a few feet away from me, reading. I sat up slowly and as soon as I did, he looked up. Coming over, I scooted away from him, but he put his hand on mine.
'Stay,' he spoke in a soft British accent that was hard to ignore.
'You're the man... the one... the one that saved-'
'Yes, I saved Erik. And you. I'm surprised you can't swim, given that you managed to stay in the water for so long and not drown.' I swallowed this information and sat with it. Then he touched my hand and spoke again. 'Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Charles. Charles Xavier. You must be Adelaide Lehnsherr. Erik's very attractive daughter.'
'I don't think he'd approve of that.'
'No, maybe not.'
'Then why flirt, Charles?'
'Just get some rest.' Just then Erik entered the room.
'How is she?'
'Hey, Dad,' I said softly.
'I heard you. I heard you call to me. I'm sorry I wasn't there to come get you. I would have, but Charles ended up there first.' Charles stood.
'I'll let you two have some time alone.' Charles left the room and I smiled at Erik, then asked,
'What are we doing here, Erik?'
'Charles thinks we are like him. We are mutants and so is he. He wants to build a team of mutants, a mutant division of the CIA who aid the CIA in stopping Shaw.'
'But we can't! That delays our chances of actually killing Shaw.'
'Agreed. I'll make sure that you and I can find a way to kill Shaw as soon as possible. You just get rest. I'll take care of everything. Got it?'
'Yeah. Can I get up and walk around?'
'Sure.' He helped me get out of bed and walk around a little. I came outside and felt the fresh sea air. Coming to the deck, I breathed in and out, feeling the fresh air in my lungs.
