Long story short, Russia was exciting and interesting and not much else. Charles, Erik, Moira and I managed to kidnap Sebastian Shaw's right hand woman, Emma Frost, and take her to the CIA.
About a day or so after we went to Russia, we pulled up in front of the CIA facility that the young mutants were in. As the four of us exited the car, I noticed something was extremely amiss. The young mutants were outside the building. But Darwin and Angel were not there. The tension increased a little.
'Charles, this doesn't feel right,' I said, leaning over to Charles.
'I agree,' my father said, chipping into our conversation. Charles, walking up to the whole crew, which now comprised of Raven, Alex, Sean, Hank, Erik, Charles and I, not including Moira, addressed them, saying that they had to leave.
'He's not going back to prison,' Sean said, pointing to Alex.
'They killed Darwin,' Alex said. I knew who it was. It was Shaw. I gritted my teeth. They said nothing about Angel. I assumed she was on his side now, which was disturbing.
'All the more reason for you to leave. This is over,' Charles announced.
'Darwin's dead, Charles,' Raven spoke with a sullen tone in her voice. 'And we can't even bury him.' There was silence before Erik spoke with fire in his voice.
'We can avenge him.' I turned to glare at Erik.
'Adelaide, Erik, a word,' Charles said, pulling us aside.
'As much as my dad's words sound a little rash, I have to agree with him, Charles. If we gather the ones that are left, we can fight Shaw and avenge Darwin.'
'They're just kids,' Charles said.
'No. They were kids,' I snapped. 'Shaw has his army. We need ours.' Charles, Erik and I broke from our conversation and turned to the young mutants.
'We'll have to train. All of us. Yes?'
'Yeah,' Alex chorused.
'We can't stay here,' Hank spoke. 'Even if they re-opened the department, it's not safe. We've got nowhere to go.'
'Yes we do.'
A few hours later, we stood in front of the Westchester mansion that was Charles' family home.
'This is lovely, Charles. Magical. Looks like a castle,' I said, linking my arm through his. He smiled at me as I noticed Erik out of the corner of my eye giving me a hard look.
'This is yours?' Sean asked.
'No. It's ours,' Charles spoke.
'Honestly, Charles. I don't know how you survived,' Erik said sarcastically, 'living in such hardship.'
'It was a hardship softened by me,' Raven said, coming up to Charles. He pressed a kiss to her forehead gently.
'Ready for the tour?' Charles said. We all followed him inside for the tour.
A couple days later, the training began. After breakfast one morning, Charles took me out to train with him. We sat down on a small bench and then he spoke.
'We are beginning your training. Your telepathy.'
'It works fine.'
'I didn't ask that, Adelaide. Your telepathy needs training. Let me help you unlock the powers in your mind.'
'So I can do what?'
'Do things you weren't even capable of, as well as control your telekinesis a little better. I understand your father trained your telekinesis a little, but it could use refining.'
