Chapter 2

5:45am
Tuesday
Naveah p.o.v

I said my goodbyes to bingo as he left for the day to head to work. Today would be the day I would go visit Jarod my baby's father who I haven't seen in about 1year and a half. Pooki said he would be here to get me around 6:30 since the jail was jus down town n they opened at 7. At first they had Jarod locked up in a jail 6hours away but since its close to his release they moved him back here. I went to check on baby jj and get him ready. He was still half sleep so I easily put his clothes after i got his clothes on I went to put mine on. After we were both dressed I placed jj in his car seat and we went into the living room to wait. 15min later I heard a car honk. I grabbed the car seat his bag my purse and we were out the door. As I made my way to pooh gray crown Vic I noticed Jarods 2 older brothers Jah and Jerrell in the car. Jah was in the front and Jerrell in the back. Jerrell noticed all the stuff I was carrying so he got out to help me put the car seat in the car. Once we were settled in pooh pulled off.
"Wassup Veah" Jah said turning around smiling at me.
"Wassup Jah" I said greeting him back
"Hey Naveah" Jerrell said as he held onto jj finger as jj giggled.
"Hey" I said smiling at them as I placed my hands on top of my purse n the diaper bag that was in my lap.
"Hey pooh stop by my moms she's gonna watch jj for me." I said leaning forward
"Aight" he said focusing on the road.
"Damn ian seen my lil brother inna min" Jah said looking out the window.
" Ikr can't wait to see ma nigga man no more free ace" pooki said. Ace was Jarod street name.
"Veah u ready to see ma brother ?" Jerrell asked grinning.
" yeah I guess" I said humping my shoulders
"U guess kno u finna be all over bro" he said looking at me.
" Am not u kno I have moved on" I said defensively
"Gurl that square ass nigga don't got nun on my brother" Jah said
"Cap" I said rolling my eyes
"Nahh no cap straight fax sus" Jah said. I didn't say nun the rest of the ride. 5 min later we made it to my mom house. I got out as Jerrell and Jah help me get jj out saying their goodbyes to jj. Once we dropped off jj we headed straight to the jail house. We finally made it n now are going through the metal detectors and getting patted down. The officers then led us down hallway and then to a room where other families were. I couldn't believe it I was getting ready to see Jarod after so long I never thought I would see him so soon. I was so mad at him when he left we ended on bad terms. We all 4 sat down waiting for the prisoners to come in. After 5 minutes of small chit chat were heard a buzz and the prisoners began to walk out in their orange jump suits. I was feeling  a little nervous . We all began to look around for Jarod when we seen him look around then noticing us. They all 3 stood up and gathered into a big hugged.
"I miss u bro fr" Jah said hugging his brother really tight.
"Damn cousin lookachu u ain't so scrawny no more" pooki said eyeing Jarod now lean frame.
"Hell nawl man" Jarod said. After their lil bro moment Jarod looked at me as I was sitting down still watching them.
"U ain't gon give a nigga a hug?" He asked with open arms. I slowly got up and hugged him. Once I was in his arms he squeezed me tight and held me close. At first I was tense but I soon relaxed and enjoyed being in his arms again. I didn't realize how much I had missed him till now. A tear then fell from my right eye but I jus let it fall.
"I miss u vae" he said into my neck. I smiled remembering the nickname he called me.
"I miss u too" I said pulling away. He then looked into my face noticing the tear but I quickly wiped it away as we sat down. Jah and Jarod on one side and me Jerrell and pooki across from them. We all then began to make small talk catching up with each other.
"Aye so how my lit jit doing?" Jarod asked me
"He's fine" I told him with a small smile
"Aye Man yo jit look jus like u mane like u marked my nephew to the t" Jerrell told him as Jarod smiled at the thought of his son.
"He'll yeah man but that lil nigga gon be bad asf like u too" Jah said laughing
"No cap lil nigga gon be a straight menace" pooki told him. As Jarod began to laugh.
"Leave my jit alone can't wait to meet him tho" Jarod said rubbing his hands together excitedly. I then began to have thoughts of my own. I realized that I was out somewhere without bingo's permission and if he was to find out I would be dead. I don't even want to tell him that he won't be able to see jj. He looked so happy talking about him that I didn't want to spoil the moment.
"Bro lit dude has ur whole name wth is we gon do?" Jerrell asked sarcastically. They then began to talk about gang stuff which I wasn't interested in so I jus sat there. After awhile it was time to go. We stood up to say our goodbyes one by one we hugged Jarod. I was the last one to go move it was once it was my turn he hugged me n he told me that he would call me sometime this week and to kiss the baby for him. Once we made it out of the building we piled into the car and was on our way.

12:45pm

They dropped me and the baby off about an hour ago so now we were jus chilling. Bingo didn't get home till 3 so I had time before I had to have dinner ready. Everyday is a routine for me since I don't work. I cook,clean and watch the baby all day. Bingo doesn't let me work he says it's because I don't need to but I think it's a control thing. I never leave the house unless it's with him or have his permission even tho I have a car.

3:15pm

Like clock work bingo walked through the door tired as normal. I stood in the kitchen by his food waiting for him to walk over.
"Hi baby" I said smiling greeting him
"Hey bae" he said kissing my lips . He then sat down to eat his food.
"Thanx bae" he said looking over his food.
"Yw" I said handing him a beer
"How was ur day? What u n the baby do?" He asked eying jj who was walking around the kitchen in his walker.
"It was cool same ole same ole" I told him
"Ohh ok" he said. Soon Jj began to fuss. Rn he is at the teething age so his gums were hurting. I quickly grabbed his teething toy out the freezer giving it to him to suck on but he threw it down again began to fuss louder.
"Can't u get him to be quiet I jus got off work n I don't feel like hearing that" he said cutting his eyes at me.
"I'm trying bingo but his gums r hurting ain't much I can do" I told him
" Well be a mother n try harder" he said coldly. I sighed
"W.e" I mumbled   finally grabbing jj out his walker cradling him.
"Whatchu say smart?" He asked dropping his fork looking over at me.
"Nothing" I said trying to diffuse the situation
"See that's yo problem that smart ass mouth of urs u lucky u got that baby or else I would've knocked yo ass clean into the refrigerator" he said coldly . I didn't say nun as I walked away rocking jj to sleep.

2 hours later

"YOU DONT FUCKING LISTEN" bingo yelled at me as he continued to beat my ass in our bedroom. He was mad because i forgot to do the laundry earlier.
"THA HELL U BEEN DOING ALL DAY HUH?" He asked hitting me in my face once day. I jus continued to cry. Jj was in his room sleep.
"I don't bust my ass all day jus for u to sit on ur ass all day I want the shit done before I get home" he said. After he finished he grabbed his keys n left. That's what he does after he beats  me senseless leave so he didn't have to look at the damage he caused. After he left I got up to clean myself up once I finished I grabbed baby jj n brought him into the room with me. I held my baby so close r cried. I cried because of the life I had I got beat on by my so called b.f every other day. My son didn't deserve this I couldn't help but to think how much my life would've been diff if Jarod would've never went to jail.
"Ur daddy needs to hurry home"I whispered to him as I kissed his forehead and fell into deep sleep.
