It's been a week since I've come to Gravity Falls. Gideon has made me go to school with him for the past 3 days, since he said I still have to learn while I'm here. I told him he sucked for doing it but he totally ignored me and rushed me to his school, barely anyone even noticed me going into classes.
I would randomly choose to walk into classrooms and pretend I was a student, no one cared to look at me or check me. Heck, even the teachers didn't care.
And then, I met the she-devil in PE.
As we were playing netball, it was all going well until I rushed into space and expected to catch the ball as it was airborne from another girl on my team.
Just as I am all close to getting into contact with it, a blur of brown swoops in front of me and swipes the ball from me.
The girl looks back as she lands effortlessly, how can someone even jump that far with a push?
The girl looks back, a glacial blue stare and she smirks at me before she passes it to the opposition, all balancing on one foot and strutting off afterward to rejoin the game.
They keep playing and I just stay where I was, frozen from what just happened. Did the girl just appear from nowhere?
I snap out of it as soon as I can and keep playing, but the hostility I saw in that girl's eyes was stuck in my mind.
Her fiery calm gaze.
After class, it was lunch, some girls decided to get to know me, they sat next to me and I made a few friends.
First I met, Annabelle and Louisa. They seemed sincere and while we talked, it seemed like I could really get used to this.
But every now and then, I'd look over to the girl sitting in my 2'o clock direction, she kept staring at me all serious and stuff. I didn't understand why she kept looking at me, two girls sat opposite to her, and kept waving their hands in front of her to keep her attention, not noticing she was looking at me the whole time.
I almost heard a fork crack into two before she got up and left.
And there I saw, making a loud sound on the floor as it dropped, a fork, split clean in two.
'Mabel!' One of the two girls shouted after 'Mabel'.
'Candy, Grenda! Let's go. This is a place for yucky commoners.' 'Mabel' spat at the girls, she stuck her nose upwards and walked out the cafeteria door
I could barely hold my sneer in before they rushed off for 'Mabel', nodding crazedly at 'Mabel'.
Suddenly I felt a tug on my ponytail, I spun around quickly. To my total relief it was just Gideon. For a moment I thought it was a ghost or something.
Crazy, right?
'First day jitters, right?' he laughed in an exaggerated manner.
'I mean, it's alright. Wouldn't my parents find me here if I'm going to school on a daily basis though? Also, seriously?' I replied, then pulled him to the side of the cafeteria. Gideon being 1 year younger than me was fine, but talking to him here seemed as though I was having more fun than studying at school.
'I am being totally serious! If you stay in school at least you can learn something!' Gideon protested back at me, loudly.
Shushing him, I added: 'That's not what I mean! I'm talking about the use of the word 'jitters'. Who even says that anymore?'
'I do.' He chuckled.

After school, Gideon told me that he was going out to hang out with some friends. I came here in such a hurry that I didn't even realise the date.
It was my birthday.
Since no one that dear was here with me, I could only celebrate myself. Gideon wasn't needing an annoying and clingy cousin, was he?
I slipped into the local bakery with a $10 bill, with it neatly tucked in my pocket. I looked around the bakery. All the pastries were cheap, but the cakes were not.
'$42...$23...$34...$29...' I whispered to myself.
The bakery was quite empty at the time of day, it was a weekday anyway. It was explainable. The sun shone through the glass, casting a warm glow on everything.
'Hi! How can I help you today?' A cheery lady asked me over the counter.
I hesitated for a second before I told her my situation.
'Hmm, perhaps I could interest you in these cupcakes? They aren't preferable for cupcakes but with your tight budget, it would be most fitting.'
It was a batch of 3 for $9.
'Perfect!' I exclaimed to the lady, I handed her the money and walked out happily with 3 cupcakes in a paper bag.
Now, to get some candles.
I walked into the corner store. 'Do you have any candles here?' I asked the man who was reading a newspaper.
The man gave a huff and nodded. 'Take a right and you'll see 'em.'
I said my thanks and collected the candles and a box of matches from the section and paid.
I seemed even lonelier while I waited for the man to find a 1 cent to give me in the cash register. Looking out the window, I saw boys and girls skateboarding on the street, laughing with each other. It's not like I can skateboard anyway.
'You got any friends, kid? You new or somethin'?' The man talking gave a jump but I calmed myself down before he could see me.
'Yeah, I came a few days ago.' I smiled kindly as I took the box of candles and matches from him.
'Quick tip kid. Stay away from devils and angels.'
The advice echoed in my head for a long time as I strolled away from the corner store. The advice was very odd, and weird. I think I must have walked for a long time because I eventually walked to the falls.
The falls in Reverse Falls.
I peeked around carefully to see if anyone was there, after seeing nobody at all. I settled down next to the boathouse on the tip of the dock and sat down. I set down the paper bag and took a cupcake as I set the boxes of matches and candles on my lap.
Lighting up the matches, I stabbed a candle into each cupcake after settling down and lit them up.
I let my hair down and relaxed.
'Happy Birthday Pacifica. I hope your future birthdays never get this low.' I murmured to myself quietly, it wasn't like anyone would hear me anyway. With a long and forceful blow, I blew the candles out in one breath and. looked down at the cupcakes sadly.
'What's a dumb blonde like you doing out alone on a Thursday night?'
