'Oh. My name? It's plain old Pacifica Pines.'

I added: 'And I never asked you to be my friend.'

'You seem like you need one anyway.'

'And yet I never said-'

'Pines, huh.' Dipper repeated after me.

'Yep, do you go to school in the local high school? I haven't really seen you around, I haven't been studying there for a long time but I definitely didn't see you.'

'To answer you, I don't really go to school.'

'Are you a university graduate? You don't look it. No offense haha.' I teased playfully.

'Well, I don't really go to school. I mean, I'm 19. I chose to drop out though.'

'Why is that?' I turned to look at him, he didn't seem offended in the slightest. Dipper looked like he was actually enjoying talking about himself.

'I dropped out on my first year. I deemed the whole experience unnecessary.'

'What?' I exclaimed much louder than I expected. 'Dropped out? What university were you in?' I made a face at him, no way a school would be so bad that you'd have to drop out the first year in.

'Harvard.'

In response to that, I exclaimed in such a way I cannot even put into words.

'That's normally how people react, I don't know why though.' He shrugged and took another bite of his cupcake, I narrowed my eyes at him eating the cupcake that I already told him he was not allowed to eat.

'It's Harvard! You dropped out? That's like my dream school!' I emphasised.

(lemme just say I know nothing about Stanford or Harvard, I'm not at uni so idk about those things ahah.)

'Too bad it wasn't mine.'

'Jeez, how high do you aim for, the freaking ozone layer?' my hand found its way to my forehead, and I discovered I was actually distressed by this guy's goals. How in the world would Harvard not be anyone's dream school?'

'It wasn't my dream university after I went. Universities always seem so ideal and seem like they don't ask much from you. You know?' Dipper put his hands behind himself and sat back to look at the sky. I could see why, the sun as setting lower and it was now almost impossible to not look and admire the hazy. orange and yellow glows it emitted.

'I guess I understand you, but how could you just give up? Was the workload too much? Or the off-site campus too harsh? You wouldn't be petty enough to fuss over the parking? I heard it isn't the best.' I scratched my chin inquisitively. Then I leaned in and whispered: 'Too expensive?'

'I wouldn't say it's any of those.'

'Then what is it.' I crawled forward with my hands. It was obvious as distressed as I was, the conversation was more interesting than any other I've had.

Then, Dipper shrugged with one shoulder and continued to look out at the view. 'Nothing much, I've told you anyway.'

After that, we continued to bicker and argue about how Harvard could be a bad school. It all came to a stop when the last trace of sunlight left and the moon rose, showing the glinting stars that it revealed after the sun left. The cupcakes were soon finished by both of us and we were talking about fairly splitting the last one, while the conversation got heated when Dipper starting shouting since I didn't split it 'fairly'.

'It's late.' I turned to him

'So?' Dipper's blue gaze came to stare me in the face. The night really brought out the shininess of his eyes, but it was odd how familiar they seemed. They looked like Mabel's eyes. Exactly the same. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea telling him about Mabel.

'I'm just saying, soon it won't be my birthday and you'll regret being mean to the birthday girl.'

'L.O.L no.'

'You pronounce the letters, what century are you living in' I yanked the cupcake broken in two at myself.

'Yes I do, now give the cupcake to me.' Dipper grinned in a hostile way, his arm shot in my direction at an instant. To that, I stood up and backed away in and said in the manner of a joke: 'I swear if you keep coming closer to me, I'll jump, and both of us can't have it.' I was deadly hoping that he wouldn't come nearer and worst wouldn't come to worst.

Apparently, it came to the worst.

A hand struck me and I fell backwards, while the cupcake flew out of my hands, it was clear the wind didn't have hands. Right before I completely lost my balance, I tried to grab what was nearest. to me. Instinct, I guess.

And bet what the closest thing to me was.

You bet. Dipper.

I pulled him into me and for a millisecond, we were oh so close.

I hit the freezing cold water warm and ended up all icy and frosty.

Once I regained consciousness in less than a minute, I caught sight of a hand and a soggy cupcake in the other hand, I grabbed ahold of it and started to drag it towards the beach of the area. Turns out we plummeted down in a ball of mess.

'Ugh.' I spluttered out the water I breathed in when falling in.

'Fuck's sake Pacifica.' Dipper gasped, and I rolled my eyes at the first time I heard him swear. He kept mumbling swear words under his breath and it was honestly getting annoying by the time I had pulled him nearer to the beach.

'Dipper, stop swearing and start kicking!' I yanked him against the current of the lake so I could use less of my strength to pull him.

'Jeez Pacifica you're weak. I'm fine thanks to you.' He looked down at me and got ahold of his footing on the wet sand. Maybe he was taller than I thought. As of that moment, while a million things crossed my mind, I was literally frozen on the spot.

We 'hiked' our way to the edge of the beach, and burst in laughter at each other's soaking outfits. As I squeezed my hair dry, I saw Dipper still holding a soggy and broken up cupcake. I just pointed at it and we both laughed even harder.

'It's so freaking disgusting! Why are you even holding it?' I said through my sniggers and covered my mouth from laughing even more.

'I don't know? If you still want it you can have it!' Dipper challenged me and threw the cupcake at me. The cupcake left a gross oily stain on my top and I could only look at Dipper wide-eyed and wide-mouthed.

'Pacifica?'

That wasn't Dipper, I was looking straight at him and he wasn't saying anything.

I looked over to the edge of the woods where it led back to the main town.

'Gideon?'
