The Sunshine State

Out on those Florida marshes;

Secrets were told;

The old wood of that rickety dock holds them dear.

The green light finds its way;

Reflected pools;

Feathered grass gusts through;

As sweet nothings were and are shared.

Soothing traces;

Bodies close but, still feel miles apart;

Strained consciences overpowered by a fated tender tug;

Another secret for the marsh to keep at bay.

Hands sweep through hair;

Eyes shine;

Still yet to define.

You cut your hair;

I dyed mine;

You got your fiancé;

I got my new girl by the drive;

Still the same even though everything has changed.

So, where do we go from here?
