The sky rumbled loud. Emma's arms tightened around Lucifer's waist. Lucifer tilted his head and frowned at the look of pure terror on Emma's face. "Hang on sweetie. We'll be there in a about minute." She nodded and quickly shoved her face on his back.Just about a minute later, Lucifer pulled into the parkway of Emma's apartment building. She got off, shivering. Instantly, he pulled her into his arms. She wasted no time in wrapping her arms around his back. Her mind drifted off to the conversation she had with fairy when she went to use the restroom.
"Wait Emma." Emma looked at the woman exiting from behind the counter.
"Yes, what's up Fairy?" She asked, taking one step back.
"I just wanted to tell you, just don't let go of your man. I saw the way he looks at you." Now Emma got confused.
"He's not my man. We're simply friends.. well I don't think we're really friends, I mean I just met him yesterday at the cafe."
"And you're out having ice cream with a random man you met at work?"
"Ok it's a little complicated Fairy."
"It's only complicated if you want it to be. Look I'm just saying he looks at you the way James looks at me. And you.. look at him the same way. You both look at each other as if you're the most beautiful people. As if you both are the only ones in the room. It's special. But I'm just saying, think about it."
"But Fairy! We just met."
"So? You don't believe in soulmates?"
"No!"
"Just saying!" Fairy raised her arms in a surrender position before smiling at Emma and patting her head. "Just.. take care of yourself, ok darling?"
Emma nodded with a soft smile on her face. "I will."
She quickly shook her head throwing the conversation out of her head. It can't be possible. She's only just met the guy! And besides.. HE'S NOT JUST A NORMAL GUY! He's quite literally a DEVIL! Who came here to stop me being.. me.
All those thoughts left her head, however, when she remembered the horrid crash that took place just minutes ago. For some reason, the thought that she almost died terrified her. However as she stood there, finding comfort in Lucifer's arms, all the thoughts left her mind. She looked up and saw him already looking down at her, his red eyes shining bright. "How does no one question your eye colour?" She whispered.
"Did you question it when you first saw it?" He asked her in a soft whisper too. She simply shook her head. And it was the truth really. She thought they were just contacts at first glance. Although the greater part of her brain believed they weren't just contacts. The logical part said that having naturally red eyes just isn't possible.
"Exactly. People just believe they're contacts." He whispered back. Emma stared into his eyes. Almost hypnotised by their beauty. It looked as if different shades of red clashed into each other, and there was this little twinkle in his eyes.
"Your eyes are beautiful." She whispered out with realising what she just said. Her eyes widened as she quickly closed her mouth. A small smile made its way on his face.
"What they're looking at right now.. the most beautiful." He whispered back, his gaze suddenly getting serious as his head tilted even lower. Her breath hitched. She couldn't believe it. He just called her beautiful. It was a word she'd heard lots of people use for her but from him.. it felt different. It felt special.
Unknowingly, she slowly leaned closer. The thunder made its way in the distance, but Emma couldn't care less. All of her fear from before seemed to diminish as she stood there in Lucifer's arms. She felt weird, she felt curious upon the thought of how she'd never felt safer in her whole life. Not even in her own home. Right now, right here, outside her apartment with thunder and lightening blazing on in the distant. She finally felt safe.. because she was in Lucifer's arms.
