Nadine didn't get to finish a single paragraph of the book she's currently reading. Because her boss just arrived. Ugh. Kainis. Trust him to barge in when you least want it.
"Good afternoon, Nadine!"masiglang bati nito.
"'morning, Byron"she greeted with sarcasm. Yes, he's her boss but years of being his assistant had earned her the right to call him by his first name. And be sarcastic with him. Paanoý alas tres na pero ngayon pa lamang ito papasok ng office. Actually, she wasn't expecting him to come at all.
"Ha-ha. Ikaw naman, parang di na nasanay"sabay kurot sa pisngi niya. She just rolled her eyes at him.
"Yeah, you've been in bed all morning with a hot chick you met somewhere the other night" Tumawa lang ito bilang kumpirmasyon. "Andyan na yung mga files for your approval. Nareview ko na kaya pwede mo na pirmahan. Yung mga proposals galing sa mga bagong companies, nasa pile na nasa kaliwa mo. Please review thoroughly. Though I think you should approve everything except JRL's."paliwanag niya. Nareview nya na kasi ang mga iyon at nakapagpabackground research na rin sa mga companies na included.
"Thanks, Nadz! Hayy, what would I do without you?" Again, she just rolled her eyes when he said his infamous line to her.
"I practically run your company. I swear, one of these days ipoplot ko na ang impeachment mo bilang chairman."she joked.
"Nah. Nine years, baby? Ang tagal na natin. You can't do that to me."he replied with an exaggerated pained expression punctuated with a wink. Kala mo naman jowa. Kainis. But then he also looked so cute doing that that she can't do anything but roll her eyes for the nth time. "I'm actually planning to throw a party for our 10th anniversary"she just gawked at him.
"What? Totoo. You've been my loyal assistant since I graduated. You've been saving my ass since nung si Dad pa ang chairman" Byron explained.
"Hmm. So what's my present, then? A 20% share?"pabirong tanong nya which he just laughed off.
"Ang cute mo talaga. Be ready by 6 pm. We're going somewhere" he suddenly declared.
"Uhm, excuse me noh. We might be partners for almost 10 years pero wala ka pa ring respeto sa office hours ko" Damn it. Plano nya pa namang magyoga after office.
"Please? It'll be fun. We're just meeting a couple of potential business partners." Hindi sya umimik. She's been dying for some exercise.
"Free ride. Free food"he bargained. Still, silence. Nope. Not worth it.
"Fine. Idadagdag ko sa allowance mo 'to."
"Done"mabilis pa sa alas-kwatrong tugon niya while grinning widely.
"Damn it. Ang tuso mo talaga"he exclaimed. But she saw that he, too, was grinning.
