Chapter IX: Otherside
Damon’s POV
I opened the door to the guest’s room and peeked in. I felt like such a creep but I couldn’t stand it anymore, knowing that I had been a door away from her. I stood there staring at her sleeping figure; she looked so peaceful, so calmed and happy.
I couldn’t sleep at all last night, my mind was so messed up, I didn’t know whether to tell her or not, but now seeing her so calmed made me realize that it would be for worse. It was in the past anyways, and if I could make her forgive me without telling her it would be better.
She suddenly stirred; I couldn’t take my eyes off her. She was wearing my spare football t-shirt that was huge on her and a pair of my boxers and no, I wasn’t having really appropriate thoughts considering it was 8 am on a Saturday morning. I closed her door and went to the kitchen. I was anxious and now a little sleepy. I took my phone out and called Jim.
“Dude, I hope your ass is on fire” He said on the other end.
“No, were you sleeping?” I chuckled while my best friend groaned.
“No dude, I was baking pies while I waited impatient for your stupid 8 am wakeup call you fucktard, it’s Saturday for Christ’s sake!” he yelled at me.
“Nicole’s sleeping here” I blurted.
“Shit. How are you coping?”
“Just peachy, especially considering that she’s a door away from my room and she’s sleeping in my clothes. Oh, and she kissed me last night.”
“Holy motherfucker” yeah, the guy has a thing for swearing.
“Anyway, that’s not why I called you. I don’t think I can tell her the truth bro, I don’t want to disturb her” I was hoping my buddy would back me up.
“I don’t know D, she disserves to know… Do you think she’ll forgive you even if you don’t tell her why you acted so stupidly all these years?”
“How come you never swear when Annie is around?” I asked him. His swearing was really annoying, especially in the morning.
“Cause I’m a gentlemen, remember? So… Are you asking for my opinion or are you just letting me know that you won’t tell her?
“I’m asking for advice”
“Ok, then, I say you tell her” He answered as if it was the easiest thing to do.
“Right, that simple, I’ll just go and tell her, maybe I could go with hey Nicole-“ I talked in a mocking tone until I was interrupted.
“What?” Nicole stood beside the counter with an apple in his hands and his hair in a tangled mess. She was still in my clothes and I felt hot all of the sudden. No decent thoughts were left in my head, everything about her body was inviting and I had been appreciating it from the distance without remorse for so long that now it seemed like an impossible task to keep my fantasies to myself or my hard on out of sight.
“I’ll call you later Jim” I said stiff, in more than one way. “How long have you been up?” I asked her while I watched her chewing on the apple.
“I just woke up and I was starving, I hope you don’t mind” I shook my head no, “Do you always get up this early on Saturdays?” she asked.
“I didn’t sleep at all” I answered honestly, what was the point in lying?
“Why not?” She asked with concern, I wondered if she really did care, my heart got all warm by just thinking about it. But then the uneasiness settled in again, how could or rather should I answer to that? Truth, half truth, flat out lie? Shit. “C’mon, just tell me, it’s not like I’ll run away scared, you’ve been really blunt before” she added as an encouragement and I remembered when I told her that I love her.
