When I got to the training grounds it was pretty obvious something was going down. Uncle Dalton was calling people to groups by age. Everyone was curious but obedient to him as they murmured in low voices and moves to their assigned groups.
I quickly set my bag in the grass and ran to my assigned group. When I for there kim was yelling my name. I walked over to her, she was with Adam.
"Hey guys" I said. Kim jumped on me and yelled Happy Birthday while Adam grabbed us both into a bear hug and said it too. After about two minutes he let go and pulled Kim off with him. I just started laughing watching the duo.
"What's so funny?" Kim asked. I just shrugged my shoulders.
"You guys. I hope I get a mate as sweet as you Adam and I hope that we are able to have a bond like you guys have. But chances of that are slim." I sighed looking around at our age group. "It's the day my wolf and I are now conscious and still even with being surrounded by the majority of our pack I can't sense my mate."
Kim looked at Adam and back at me. "Mackenzie. Honey don't get so depressed about it, trust me your mate is out there and you guys will meet. Don't put to much thought into this especially not when today is about celebrating the wonderful life you have and woman you've grown to be." I looked at Kim and smiled.
"You sound like Grams."
I had to admit she was right. Today is not about fining my mate and I should just let that come when it does. Today is about my life.
I turned around and faced the Alpha as he began clapping to get everyone's attention.
"Thank you everyone for assembling in your groups now before we being I have a few announcements first, Kenny will you come up here please." He said gesturing me forward. I sighed and began walking through the groups of higher level wolves and to Alpha Dalton.
He quickly pulled me into a hug and the turned me to face the pack.
"Let's get a round of applause for Mackenzie for today is her 18th birthday and she is now conscious and when the time comes and she has found her mate she will resume the roll of Alpha that our dear late Alpha temporarily left to me."
I stood in front of the pack my face red as a tomato and watched as every single member bowed there heads to me in respect. I turned around to Dalton and he to had his head bowed, then from the back of the pack the roar of applause began. I smiled to my pack and bowed my head at the thanking and showing respect to them as well.
Dalton came back to my side and raised his hands to stop the clapping.
"Now, because Mack is a party pooper we will not be throwing her a party but instead we will have a party to celebrate the return of a brother. Sebastian Reynolds, son of the late Justin and Marnie Reynolds. During the war Sebastian was just a kid and he was run out of the pack by a rouge and was taken in by The Apollos but has now returned to join us." He said "Sebastian is not here with us today because I found it more appropriate for him to meet the entire pack tonight."
The pack began with low whispers and glances around. The Alpha silenced them and have the last announcement.
"Now to finish. Today we will be taking a test of strength to see who will move up levels to earn a new title in the pack." The crowd erupted, some groaned, some whined, some cheered excited to show off what they've learned since last year.
"Level tens please over see level 7,8, and 9's if any prove worthy alert me immediately." Alpha said.
Everyone began to branch off to their sectors. Kim, Adam, and I walked to sector seven. It was mostly just 16-19 year olds.
'Mackenzie today is the day. You have to show that you belong in sector 10.' My wolf said. I sighed not wanting to have this conversation again.
You know I can't do that Celest. I thought back to her.
'Mackenzie I know what you can do and the full extent of your abilities. If your going to resume the Alpha role you need to show your pack that you can protect them when the time comes.' she argued. I hate when she's right, giving up fighting I began the test first before anyone else.
The test consisted of speed, endurance, strength, and a fight between a sector 10 fighter.I positioned myself at the start line for speed and waited for the gunfire.
*gun fire*
