Lunch

Sebastian calmly laying on the foot of my bed and a black blanket under me I sat cross-legged on the floor. In our dorms we aren't required to wear our uniforms and for practice the restrictions on our magic can make practicing difficult.

The clothes I wore instead were a black tank top and shorts. I need to refine the small amount of mana I absorbed today. My method is called Green Fire and works moderately well for fire bloodlines or nature bloodlines. It has about 80% compatibility with my bloodline, which is quite high for any fusion bloodline.

Astral projection is used to get to one's mana pool. Then faced with a large pool of energy of mostly only compatible magic, and incompatible magic has to be cleansed.

In my mana pool there is clear and almost pure hot water. If you imagine a hot tub or a hot bubble bath it's a little like that. But I have to clean out strands of different energy.

And the way to do that using my method is, harsh. A green but searing hot flame surrounded me slowly bleeding into my mana pool.

First I felt nothing because the flame itself cannot hurt me. But as the fire burned any energy incompatible with mine my muscles, skin, and even bones felt intense heat and pressure.

These were the steams of the wrong energy burning off my mana pool. But the steam wasn't being throw away it sunk slowly into every cell of my body. It's meant to strengthen these cells but before that it feels as if it's killing the cells. But when the cells heal they will be stronger.

And so I sat, in agony just barely holding back screams, refining for nearly an hour.

I slowly pried my eyes open. My skin was bright red and irritated but not badly damaged enough that I needed much time to clean up. Had I needed to refine more energy my skin might have burst and bleed. Not a pretty picture.

Sore and overheated I stumbled into the bathroom of the dorm. I cranked the cold water and stepped in regardless of my clothes.

The cool water both hurt my sensitive skin and felt like heaven. It drew some of the heat from my cells but it also assaulted them with painful pellets of water.

This is the only time I wished for bad water pressure.

I stayed in the shower for a full half-hour until my healing finally finished fixing the huge amount of burns on my body.

I heard the dorm door open and shut the shower off. Quickly using air to smooth away any water clinging to my clothes or person I walked out to meet Sheila perfectly dry.

"There you are, want to get lunch?" She smiled motioning to the door.

"Yeah give me a second," I beamed at her grabbing one of my clean uniforms and walking into the bathroom.

Since I'm not close to allowed out of my dorm without a uniform I have to put it on before we go out. There are students allowed to not wear them but they've either proved their control and their will not to hurt anyone or were from a weaker species.

There are obvious exceptions like when you're leaving or returning to campus but lunch is something we have to wear uniforms for. I changed quickly and walked back out of the bathroom more than ready for lunch.

Ironically refining energy requires energy so a nap or meal is good to have afterward.

"Ready," I popped out of the bathroom and scooped Sebastian up holding him in my arms. We walked out of the door set for lunch.

"What are you getting for lunch?" I asked Sheila.

"Probably just salad, but I've been craving seaweed recently so we'll see when we get there. What about you? Your meals are always interesting,"
