Deception of the Heart

Chapter 2

As Kate sat in the car she thought of Steven and the hot blonde, she wondered if there's something going on between them but she preferred the thought of them being just friends. She decided as usual that she was not going to make a big deal out of it.

When Kate got to school she saw Kim in the hall about ten feet away, Kim started shouting  her name.

"Katey!!", "Kate"

Kate has always been free spirited, loud, witty, sassy  and effortlessly beautiful. Kate waved to her from across the hall as she moved closer.

"What's up bestie", Kim asked

" Just heading to class, where's Tim?"

Tim is Kim's new boyfriend and technically the longest relationship she has ever been in, they've been dating since summer, it's almost a year, Kate thinks Kim actually loves Tim and doesn't want him for just sex, which she is actually proud of her, given Kim's history. What Kim doesn't know though is that Kate had a crush on Tim before they started dating, and even though Kate keeps telling herself she's over the crush, she really isn't.

" He's not coming today, says he and his dad are going outta town for the weekend, they had to leave early or some shit like that". You didn't answer my calls last night , I called you several times."

At this moment Kate was wondering if she should tell Kim about the conversation between her and Steven, as well as what she saw at the coffee shop, she was on the verge of doing so, when her watch beeped, indicating it's time for her next lecture, instead she said;

"I was tired, I went to bed early...talk to you later, I don't want to be late for Proffessor Hamilton's class" and rushed off.

"Okay, later!" Kim responded loudly hoping she'd hear based on how far she had already gotten.

After classes Kate generally goes to choir practice, they have a competition coming up in a few months that they'll be preparing for. To Kate, her music is her get away from everything, from all the kaos and stress of a long day and the burdensome thoughts, she just loses herself in it all.

When Kate got home she went straight to her computer to finalise some assignments that have upcoming deadlines. Even though it's the weekend Kate likes to get some things out the way rather than having everything piling up on her all at once. She works very smart.

As Kate finished her final sentence she heard her phone ringing, when she took it up, she realized that it was Steven. She allowed it to ring without and answer, it went to voicemail. Kate picked up the phone and listened to it and it said;

"Katey bear please pick up the phone, I didn't mean to scare you the other day...i mean, if you're not ready we can wait....can we please talk? I love you baby, please talk to me".
