Inhuman

Chapter 10

I stand in front of Nash with a gun in my hand, he says he has important about Yana and her plans I let him stand up and I walk behind him the gun still in my hand I don’t trust him, but if he says he has information then I guess I have to believe him, I walk him to the captain corners and Sallow looks at him. “What are you doing here” He says through gritted teeth I see his fist clench, but Ctayla calms him down.
Nash puts his hands up in a surrender. “I know things about Yana none of you know” He says and at this we all listen to him and he smiles, Sallow still doesn’t seem happy about this though, “She’s scared after she killed her father, she parinoyed someone will find out” He says and he continues. “I also have papers” He says reaching in his coat I raise my gun up my gun a little. “Easy” He says as he waves the papers in front of me. 
Sallow reads the papers “But this would mean” Sallow was interrupted by Nash. 
“Genesis yeah I know” He says taking the papers back after everyone reads them, “And nobody is safe, not even in the hospital” He says and I sit down in shock Yana is a monster she is a snake. “She already has killed two people and who knows if she killed more” He says and just then Sallow stands up as the T.V in the captain Corners that is left untouched by the raging crowds down below shows a picture of someone that looks like Sallow just older. 
Then the news reporter starts talking and Sallow’s sister looks at the T.V hoping it isn’t what she thinks it is. “This just in Bernard Sallow was found dead by a crimson head who escaped from it’s chains”  Arya collapses to the floor and Sallow looks at the T.V with anger in his eyes, I pick up Arya and set her down in a chair Sallow still stands by the T.V looking at the picture of his father. 
He shakes his head to get out of the daze he was in. “I’m going to kill her” He says as he tries to walk out of the room Nash stands in front of the door. “Move out of the way” He says, but Nash doesn’t move “I said move”. 
Sallow tries to push Nash out of the, but it doesn’t work “Just think there will be more people that she will kill, you will get your chance just trust me” At this Sallow sits back down still filled with rage but I can tell all he wants to do is cry, I comfort his sister and Khalyeei looks at me and I give her a sad smile she smiles back, “We will keep with your plan” Nash says pointing to all of us, “But it’s going to have to be sooner than you wanted it to be” He says and we all look at him. 
Arya looks at him and her tears are gone, now filled with rage like her brother. “My father is dead” She says and everyone looks at her. “I want this woman dead for what she did and not just killed in a battle” Arya says looking at her father on the T.V screen. “I want her to die the same way my father did” She says standing up. “What do you have in mind?” She says looking at Nash wanting answers. 
“We will attack on the 31, everyone of Yana’s followers will be there” He says and we all listen intently “That is in two weeks do you think you will be ready by then” Nash says turn to Catayla. 
She smiles. “I think everyone down there will be ready to fight” She says gesturing to the people down in the pipes everyone managed to close up the broken hole in pipes pretty fast so we are still hiding. “This meeting is dismissed” She says and we all walk out of the captain's corners. I went to my room two weeks ago and I think to myself, I haven’t seen Yana since her betrayal. Besides in interviews, she cut her hair and I realise how much she doesn’t look like Khayleei. I was interrupted by someone walking into my room. “Hey,” Catayla says and I smile. I never realized how much we have incommon. 
She sits down in a chair, “How’s Sallow” I ask and she looks sad.
She looks down at her feet which see does when she is upset, “He needs some space right now, he’s not getting any better the memories come back more and more now” She says still looking sad, “I’m scared he won’t ever be the same” She says and I stand up and hug her, she comes to me every time something like this happens, Catayla and I used to be childhood friends. “What if he stays like that forever?” She says, shaking in my arms. “I think it would be better if”
I interrupt her knowing what she was going to say “No don’t say that you know where you would be without him” I say and I feel Catayla nod her head, “Now what do you think about sharpening the knives you had me make” I say and her eyes light up. 
She gets out of my hug. “You made them,” She says happily. I nod my head and like a little kid opening christmas presents she sits down at my desk where the knives were, She put the knife in her hand and as she looks at it her fingers trace the swirls that look like fire and water. “It’s beautiful,” she says and I hear a knock on my door. 
I open it to find Sallow his eyes are red, but he puts on a smile for Catayla. “I thought I’d find you here” He says and she smiles at him, “They found something here that I want you to see.” He says I followed them and when we got there it was a swimming pool. Catayla takes one look at it and backs away “Hey do you trust me” She nods her head and he holds out his hand for her to take. They walk into the pool. Something tells me that this place was more than just an electric pipe. It's a place to protect others from mosquitoes. It's a shelter. I went in the water that was lukewarm. Catayla looks terrified, I hear Sallow say, “Close your beautiful blue eyes darling and take a deep breath” She does as she says and they go under water for only a few seconds, She comes back up to the surface less scared then she was before. Sallow chuckles, “See it’s not going to hurt you” He says and just then the years of horrible memories escape from both of their eyes and it’s just the good ones. Catayla swims around in the water happily and Sallow smiles proud that he helped Catayla get over her fear. We are the only two people that Catayla will ever show her soft side to. To anyone else she has a shield of emotions, and only one escapes anger. Right now Catayla was happy, “I’m not getting any better” Sallow says suddenly and I turn to him, concern in my eyes. “Axel, the memory I had this time wasn’t real; it was of Catayla, only she was trying to hurt me” He says, his voice getting shaky at the recollection of the memory. “I’m scared I will hurt her”  He says we both look at Catayla. I try to say something, but Catayla splashes water in my face. I duck out of the way, but it hit’s Sallow instead. “Now you're going to get it” Sallow says running in the water to Catayla who was faster than him in the water. He splashes her with water and she goes under the water, but not before she gets splashed. 
When I heard footsteps and turned around to see who the owner was, it was Khayeei. I look at her and smile and she knows what I am thinking. “No, don't” she says, but it was too late. I pull her in the water and she screams, “Axel!” She says and splashes me in the face with water. I laugh at her and she laughs back, “I just wanted to walk around” she says and I laugh Sage walks in and jumps in the water, she is a lot more adventurous than Khayleei for once I forget about everything else, Keanu jumps in the pool creating a splash that splashes all of us instantly we start splashing Keanu until his head was completely wet for once we felt like teenagers, we missed out on those years, and Sallow is bringing those years for everyone. When we walk out of the pool we stand near the pool drying off, Khayleei starts talking, saying. “we should get back because we have planning” and Keanu pushes her back in the water. He laughs at her and she laughs. I realized then that Khayleei likes Keanu and when we walk back I stop next to Khayleei. 
I look at her “Do you like him?” I ask her gesturing over to Keanu.”Be honest it won’t make me mad” I say and it was true I won’t get mad and I probably won’t even be upset Keanu is so much more than I am and that I will ever be. 
Khayleei nods her head “Yeah I do I guess I see you as more of a friend” She says and I nod my head I was thinking the same thing.She walks over to Keanu and they start talking, I walk back to my room and get changed out of the jumper that was soaking wet, I turn on the T.V and Yana was on the news that’s a shocker, but I listen to every word. 
Anger buzzes through me as she speaks. “Today I have become the Oxitec leader and the leader of this fearful world, and things are going to change for the better, I promise you all” She says and the crowd cheers of course. She has a whole world of people by her side ready to welcome her in with open arms. “I promise if the rebels are not dead by now they will be.” The crowd cheers even more. That is all they wanted to hear. Yana steps off of the stage, I can hear her heels clicking and the white tiled floor, the sound of the clicking is annoying and all I want to do is kill her. She is wearing a white blazer and pants with black shoes. I hate that she can say she will kill us after everything we did for her, then again everything we did for her was nothing to her. I get up and leave my room and I go to the cafeteria. I just sit there. I will sit anywhere but in my room right now. Someone walks up to me and I know who it is with their curly red hair, I look over at Arya and she looks at me, her eyes are bloodshot from crying. 
She starts talking trying to make a conversation, “You know this day is going by really slow” She says to me her hair when it is down is a mess of curls, but it also makes her brown eyes stand out. “Wouldn’t be nice if we could rewind pieces of our lives” She says and I look at her. 
I think of what to say for a second then I know what to say. “If people could rewind their lives then the world would never learn from their mistakes” I say and she agrees with me. “Do you want to get a coffee,” I ask her as I stand up to go to the Cafeteria kitchen. 
She stands up too, “I would kill for a cup of coffee” She says over exaggerating the word kill, “I wouldn’t actually kill anyone though” She says smiling and we laugh at this. “So I heard that Yana is your Ex girlfriend” She says as I put water in the coffee maker. “What was that like?” She asked me if there was one thing that she and Sallow had in common; it was the fact that both of them are nosy. “You don’t have to answer” She says as she sits on a counter and puts her hair in a bun that ended up being messy anyway. “You know what I do admire about her. Is her, I can do everything mocksy, but don’t you think she took it a little too far” Arya says and I laugh at her. 
I look at her while the coffee is being made “Mocksy?” I ask, raising an eyebrow in judgement. “You are nothing like your brother I’ll give you that” I say and she laughs hopping down from the counter. 
She looks at me, “Mocksy is a word I use to describe people’s determination” She says explaining to me, “And I am a lot like my brother only his words are boring” She says and I can agree with that his words are very boring and drawn out. 
Just then the coffee maker dings and I pour two cups of coffee. I get sugar from the top cubert, “Sugar” I say and she shakes her head taking a sip of the strong black coffee, “Okay” I say to her now I was the one making conversation. “so what do you like to do” I say to her and she sits back on the counter. 
She thinks for a second, “I like to paint, that's probably number one.” She says with a smile, for everything that is going on here she is really happy which is good we need more happiness. “I also like sunsets, my brother likes them too, only it’s more of a memory thing for me” She says and stops talking. “What about you? What do you like?” She asks me, her brown eyes filled with wonder. 
I think for a second. “I like the color green” I say and she lets out a sarcastic sigh. 
She throws her hands up the air. “Anything else” She says and I shake my head, “There has to be something.” She says to me and I smile.
Something about Arya made me happy. I don’t know if it was her happy personality or her radiant smile. “I like icecream” I say weekly, but it seemed to make her happy. 
“That’s good” She says, “See I already feel like I know you better” She says hopping down from the counter, we talk for the rest of the time until people start filing into the kitchen, it must be dinner time we get out of the kitchen and sit down at a table next to everyone. 
It was noisy like always, “Yeah that’s beside the point” I heard Nash say waving someone off, Catayla was stuck in a daze and Sallow and Keanu were have a conversation about a old football game Mateo was sketching something in a book and was look at Arya the whole time who was talking to him, I smile at all of them happy to see them acting normal and not showing that they are worried, Catayla snaps out of her daze and starts talking to Juniper who was feeling like a third wheel. In two weeks everyone in here will be killers or will be killed, I think to myself I try to shake my head of the idea, but I can’t the idea will stay in my head forever. 
After dinner everyone walks back to their room, I once again turn on the news only this time it wasn’t Yana that I saw. I was seeing footage of a bombing, and then someone shouts. “You can not drown us” then the footage cuts out. 
Yana was sitting in an all white room with sadness in her eyes, but I knew it wasn’t real nothing about her is real, “Today we witness the very first attack from the rebels on a building full of innocent people” She shakes her head, “This is a tragedy and a attack upon all of us, I’m sure anyone would want to volunteer to fight off these pests” She say disgustingly because I know that she will not be fighting alongside any of them and as if things couldn’t be worse, “And I promise that I will stand alongside you the whole time” I shut off the T.V. and roll the blankets over me I couldn’t sleep though no matter how much I wanted to. People citizens bombed a building full of other citizens.
