Your POV:

For dinner, Satori wanted to try out a Naruto themed ramen shop, so now, I am waiting for him and Ushijima at our designated meeting spot. Ushijima is the first to show up. As I spot him, I smile and begin waving to get his attention, while he just gives me a slight nod to say hello. I try to start a conversation by asking simple questions like how his day went, but he would give dry one-word answers making it hard to continue. It's a couple of minutes past our meeting time, so I decide to call Satori to figure out why he isn't here. When he answers the call, he sincerely apologizes and tells me that he forgot about the dinner plans. We end up deciding to reschedule because he couldn't make it tonight.

Satori's POV:

After hanging up the phone, I lower the hat I'm wearing to hide myself and adjust my sunglasses. I watch in the distance at the two figures I promised to meet. To be honest, I set this up, and now, I'm tailing them. I'm hoping that this date will bring the two of them closer together, and Ushijima will finally learn to open up a little. (Y/N)'s a good person, and I want my best friend to be happy. Maybe, (Y/N) can even become his girlfriend: that would be good for him.

Your POV:

With an exasperated look, I turn to Ushijima and explain "Looks like Satori forgot about dinner, so he won't be able to make it." Unsure how I feel about being alone with Ushijima, I continue with "So what do you want to do? I'll understand if you just want to call it a night and go another time."

"We're already here. We can go to a cheap sushi place I know closeby." is all Ushijima says before he starts to walk off on his own in the direction of the restaurant. He has a point, and I'm hungry, so I sprint towards the large male trying to catch up to him. As we're walking, Ushijima keeps quiet, and the silence starts to eat at me making me feel awkward. I'm about to speak up when I notice a familiar face in the distance. Quickly, I wrap both my hands around Ushijima's arm and cling to him making it look like we're a couple in love.

As Ushijima and I continue to walk, I hear the maroon haired male call out "Is that you (Y/N)?" My heart aches as I see my ex approach us. Wearing a solid white shirt that outlines his swimmer's body and a pair of black jeans, he looks as good as ever. He runs his hand through his silky hair as he eyes Ushijima and me together "Sorry to disturb you... on your date. I just couldn't believe I ran into you here."

"Who are you?" Ushijima questions with his same straight-faced expression. Although Ushijima didn't mean anything by the question, I know that to a stranger it looked like he was being protective over me.

I decide to wrap my arms around Ushijima's waist, and he doesn't do anything about it. "I'm sorry Waka-kun. Let me introduce you. This is Rin Matsuoka." I glance at Rin and move forward with the introductions "Rin, this is Wakatoshi Ushijima."

With a sullen face, Rin asks the question he doesn't want an answer to "You seem to be doing well. Is he your new boyfriend?"

I want to cry seeing his beautiful face again, but I plaster on a smile instead and answer "You could say that. We're just taking it slow. He's busy with volleyball, but we TRY to MAKE TIME for each other as much as possible." I don't want to hurt Rin; I want him to be happy. At the same time, I said that just to spite him.

"That's great to hear. I hope you take care of (Y/N), Ushijima." the shark-toothed male answers scratching the back of his head. Although Rin is smiling like an idiot, there is a vacant and somber look in his eyes. "Well.... I don't want to take up any more of your time together, so I'll be leaving. Nice to meet you Ushijima. Hope to see you around (Y/N)." Rin says before he departs quickly not looking back.

As soon as Rin is away from eyeshot, small uncontrollable tears start to run down my face. "What was that about?" Ushijima asks before looking down at my trembling figure. Once he notices my wet eyes, instead of saying anything else, he just wraps his arms around me and holds me silently.

I clench my hands to the back of Ushijima's shirt. "I thought I was already over this," I whimper, "I must look pathetic crying over an ex that I broke up with a long time ago."

"No," Ushijima calmy states.

"Sorry," I mumble into his chest "I know you barely know me, but here you are taking care of me." I try to take deep breaths to control myself.

"I don't mind." Ushijima slightly tightens his grip around me. His steady heartbeat was starting to calm me, but once I hear his reassuring words, I start to weep again feeling vulnerable. We stand there holding each other as I let everything out. "You have to forget the guy that forgot about you," Ushijima says in a hushed tone, soothing my aching heart.
