Days passed and things were going nicely but britt couldn't settle her nerves. The only time she even relaxed was when Atem's hand was around her. She knew she was safe in the palace but she was the rebel leader. She'd been on tense even with the war over like she needed to deal with her emotions or prepare for another war.
"Will you stop staying on guard my Queen?" Atem said
"I can't help it. I lived months with my guard up except certain times." Britt said
Atem smirked as he got behind Britt holding her and placed his head on her shoulder holding her close. He knew what she meant by her words as he never saw her off guard or even wanting to be around anyone. Till they happened to be together and in his presence, she was always on edge like someone would attack her. Some of the guards didn't like her by knowing she was the former rebel leader. Atem's claim to her was the child which meant if the guards tried to hurt her that they'd get hurt or worse.
"Come on we have a meeting and father's making an announcement." Atem said
Picking her up before she could have a chance to do anything Atem took her to where his father was. Britt knew that they were intended to get married soon and even before now. He set her down and she looked at him. He lightly pushed her in a room and walked away.
"Hey!" Britt said
"You'll do fine." Atem assured her
"Wait don't g-" Before she finished a couple girls grabbed her and started to fit her for a dress. She watched as they were asking her questions and taking down measurements to make a dress that fit her.
"How much gold?" A seamstress asked
"Enough for a princess." the other said
I want to go back to my hideout. Britt thought
"Lace color?" the seamstress asked
"A nice royal co-" I was tired of them asking each other "Purple or a nice blue." I said
I am a leader too I can take charge. Britt thought
"Purple or a nice blue?" the seamstress asked
I placed a hand under my amulet and it glowed under my touch, the seamstresses seemed to notice and get the idea of what I was talking about. They made a few dresses for me to look over. three dresses were made for me to judge and I was for sure this was supposed to be my wedding dress. I walked over examining the first dress, it was white with purple lace and the nile blue was lacking it just didn't scream me.
"What do you think of the first dress?" the seamstress asked
"Not my style" Britt said
The second dress was a bit nicer with gold around the neck and some blue gems with the purple lace around the waist. It was more my style but still I was a rebel leader who won the rebellion and kept the royal families safe. The third dress was exactly my style with purple lace around the waist and nile blue gems connected to the lace. It had a backless opening and It seemed loose giving.
it's good. Britt thought
"So which one do you like?" the 2nd seamstress said
"this third one, it's more my style." Britt said
The seamstresses seemed surprised and Britt looked at them "Don't look so surprised." Britt said with a smile as they had her try it on. She looked at herself and she was impressed with how it looked before changing into her other clothes then leaving them. She went to find Atem and saw he was alone so she snuck up behind him and kissed his neck.
"that's my Queen, no one else makes such a bold move." Atem said
"Your betrothed wishes for some of your time, my love." Britt said
"well if you insist." He said
