You sat in your bed reflecting on the weekend practice matches.
Karasuno had returned from Tokyo two weeks ago and was going back tomorrow—well, tonight technically.
The bus was leaving early-early in the morning.
Since you couldn't sleep, you decided to recap on the practice matches. From what you could tell, Hinata was evolving. It was a term used by Coach Nekomata (he had spoken to you in private about the matter), but it was accurate in this case.
The orange-haired boy wanted to try doing quicks with his eyes open, a new development for sure. Especially since he had only been closing his eyes the whole time.
The problem was that he was getting distracted by the ball. All of his attention was focused on the inanimate object, and when that happened, he didn't think about his own movements at all.
You mentioned this to Coach Ukai, and he said he would try something out, but all you could do was hope that the team would get back to its usual rhythm soon.
It wasn't just Hinata improving, but everyone on the team was working on sharpening their skills. You were busy doing all you could to accommodate and now you were exhausted—but not enough to K.O. apparently.
Before you could close your eyes, your phone buzzed.
You turned to look at the device and chuckled.
"He wants to meet up now?"
The two of you were supposed to be getting some sleep because the team was heading back to Tokyo early for a week-long training camp, but obviously he didn't care. Not like you were sleeping anyways.

Kei
Oi shorty.
I know you're awake.
Meet me at the park in 5.
(Name)
Ok, see you in a bit.

You slipped into a sweater and made your way downstairs. Once your shoes were on, you headed straight out the door. It was late, but you didn't care.
Tsukishima rarely texted you, so when he did, you took it seriously.
"I hope everything's okay." You furrowed your brows as you jogged to the park that was stationed halfway between your houses.
As you approached, you spotted a familiar head of blonde hair.
"Kei!" You waved your hands in the air to get his attention.
The male slid his headphones off of his head and let them rest around his neck. You slowly approached the swings and Tsukishima followed in your footsteps.
The two of you sat and swung in silence for a while. You figured he needed a few moments to gather his thoughts before saying anything to you.
"What's so good about volleyball?" The boy blurted.
The question shocked you.
Now that was something you weren't expecting.
"What do you mean? Shouldn't you know? You're a regular." You jokingly replied, but he gave no response.
"I don't get why everyone's so passionate about this stupid sport." Tsukishima looked up into the sky and stared there for awhile. "It's just a club."
You stared at his frustrated expression and your eyes widened. He was absolutely serious about this.
"I started playing to see why my brother liked it so much to be content with sitting on the sidelines, but I can't figure out what makes people so crazy about it." His gaze shift to you in an instant. "So, what's your answer (Name)?"
You were surprised by his sudden use of your name.
"I think that if you're trying to find out why your brother liked it so much, you're never gonna get the answer you're searching for." You stated, staring straight at him. "You need to try playing for yourself." Tsukishima was giving you a slightly pained expression. "From what I remember, your brother was always on the sidelines." You tried to think back to when your own brother was in school. "You'll never know what he felt because you're a regular."
"That's why I'm asking you!" The boy yelled. It was obvious that this was weighing heavily on his mind.
You didn't see him upset often, but during rare times like these, you had to appreciate it since he was usually keeping his feelings to himself—even as kids.
"Well, you're not playing but you come to every one of our games right?" His eyes were desperate for a solid answer. "You're always on the sidelines, but you're happy just cheering us on. I wan't to hear what you have to say."
You stood up from your swing and walked over to the male. You didn't stop until you were right in front of him. As you did so, he was still muttering things under his breath.
"Listen to yourself, Kei!" You placed your hands on his shoulder and shook him slightly. "I'm a manager. Not a player."
His eyes widened. As smart as he was, he didn't take the differing positions into consideration.
"Even if you ask Ennoshita-san how he feels, he might give you a different reason than your brother."
Tsukishima's face contorted in anger. He was upset that he couldn't figure it out, and he was going to take it out on the wrong person.
"Forget it, then. Sorry I asked you." He stated before slapping your hands away. You bit your lip. He wasn't listening to anything you were saying. "Get home safely. See you tomorrow." The male purposely bumped into your shoulder before walking away. You couldn't believe he was being so childish right now.
"That's right!" You yelled at his receding back. "You did ask the wrong person! No matter what other player you ask, you're going to just keep asking the wrong person!"
The houses nearby flipped on their lights. It was late and the two of you were interrupting their sleep.
Tsukishima didn't reply to you.
"The person you need to be asking is yourself, Kei! You need to try living in the moment and playing volleyball for yourself!" You shouted. The male just put his headphones on and kept walking away.
"Hey! Keep it down, kids!" A neighbor yelled.
You angrily stormed off, but not before bowing and saying an apology to the houses surrounding the park.
"Stupid Kei." You kicked a rock as you headed back home.
~*~*~
The time to depart for the week-long training camp had come and you were in a grumpy mood.
It was dark since the sun hadn't come out yet, and you didn't get one bit of sleep.
Why?
Because you were up all night thinking about the stupi fight with Tsukishima.
No matter what you tried, it was no use.
Yoga? Nope!
Meditation? Nope!
Warm milk? Nope!
A sleep-deprived, angry (Name)? Yes!
"Is everything alright, Udai-san?" Yachi tapped your shoulder. She noticed that you were brooding in anger.
Your head snapped around to face her and your stare alone made her shudder. Her terrified expression snapped you out of it. Even if Tsukishima had made you upset, the others didn't deserve to take the fall for it.
"I'm fine." You reassured her with a smile. "Just tired."
She brightened up. "Okay!"
