"Happy Halloween Jay", I said to my best friend. Jay and I always went out for Halloween, we loved to scour our neighborhood to see who our next victim would be. Although, this year was different because we decided we were going to break in to my neighbors house. He never comes out much and tends to keep to himself, I always wanted to introduce myself but he made it obvious he didn't like human interaction. Although, he had this grand house that looked like a mansion from the outside, it was better than the whole neighborhood. Which also means whoever bought it had a lot of money. We made our way to the front of his lawn and waited behind a car.

"He has to be asleep by now John, let's go.", Jay said.

We both bolted to the side of the house and opened a window. We snuck inside and as we looked around we were in awe. This house was beautiful, it felt like a palace which meant it was the perfect house to steal from. We searched the first floor, nothing, the second floor, nothing, but once we reached the third floor we found the jackpot. We saw a wallet packed full of cash on a drawer and a small case next to it that we both assumed it had to be full of cash too. The only problem was that it was in my neighbors bedroom and he was sleeping right next to it.

"Hey, are you sure this is safe, what if he wakes up?", Jay asked me.

"It'll be fine, I'll go get them and come back, let me know if he starts to wake up."

"Ok just be careful."

I grabbed the wallet and put it in my pocket. Then I grabbed the box and tip-toed out of the room. Jay and I ran out of the house and split the money we found between us, we both got 5000 bucks. That's not bad for a couple of teenagers who barely know how to get away with cheating on a test. Both of us decided to call it a night, Jay lived the opposite direction of my house so we went our separate ways. As I made my way home I looked over to my neighbors house before I walked in and noticed that one of the windows had been opened. I quickly ran inside hoping he didn't see me. I quietly walked passed my parents room and went into mine down the hall. I put the money I had in my drawer and quickly fell asleep.

"Wakey wakey sleeping beauty", said a voice.

I opened my eyes slowly, not knowing who or what the voice was. As I looked up I saw something that terrified me, my neighbor was standing above me. The moonlight exposing his crazed smile and his wide piercing eyes, it was straight out of a movie. I didn't know what to do, I knew my parents were down the hall so I knew they would hear me if I screamed. Before I could though, I felt a cold blade pressed against my neck, at that moment I was paralyzed with fear and regret.

"Don't you dare think about screaming or trying to fight back. Understand?".

I simply nodded at his request fearing that if I had even opened my mouth he would hurt me. He told me to stand up and walk down the hall, so I did. We were about to pass my parents room, it was the perfect opportunity to call them. Just as I was about to make my move, *click*, I froze. What was that, was that a gun? I soon realized my suspicions were true when he pressed an object against my head.

"Don't do anything you'll regret or else I won't hesitate to end it right here."

I nodded. We continued walking down the stairs and to the door. We walked outside into the dark, cold night. He slowly lead me into his house continuing to press the gun against my head, so many thoughts ran through my head. Why am I here, does he know that I stole from him, am I going to die here?

"Sit on the couch".

I quickly did as I was told and sat. I looked over my shoulder to see the man standing behind me, he was just staring at me with a blank expression. Maybe I should ask him something, what if he hurts me? I finally worked up the courage to say, "Why am I here?"

"You know why".

"I-I really don't, can you please tell me." He leaned in right beside my ear, I could hear him breathing.

"You decided to take a risk, break into my house and steal my money."

So he did see us, but how? We never saw him wake up or move. I didn't know what to do, honestly I was scared.

"I-I'm really s-sorry sir, if you want I can give you back the money I stole."

"Well I already got the money from your drawer, so sorry kiddo that won't get you out of this, it's time someone gave you a lesson."

"P-please sir I'm sorry, I won't bother you again, I won't say anything. Can't I make it up to you somehow."

"Mm no, that's not enough to get you off the hook."

"Ok, sorry."

"You really shouldn't say sorry if you don't mean it, but at least your polite."

I need to figure out what's going to happen to me and if I'm ever going to get out of here. "Can I ask you something, s-sir?"

"Sure."

"A-are... are you going to... kill me?"

No response. Just silence. What happened? I wanted to turn around so bad. Before I got the chance to, I heard a maniacal laugh and next thing I knew the world went dark.
