The road to nowhere

Chapter nine

It has been an entire school day and I still can't stop thinking and questioning our performance. I mean, sure, it was amazing and everything but I don't understand why he was so excited about it.

When I meet Izzy she instantly starts talking about the performance and how she thought that it was amazing and seemed very professional. "I am very proud of you two! Oh, and the kiss was just..." she begins. "Did you practice it? Because it seemed so much less awkward then I have imagined it would be. I know I would feel extremely awkward." she stares at me wide-eyed as I stop trying to understand myself what I'm about to say.

"No. We didn't practice it, not once. We only got as far as practicing the way it would happen and discussing it rather than actually doing it which, I guess, worked out just fine." I say walking on.

Izzy quickly catches up with me. "Like I would get the chillness if it was with anyone else but it's HIM!  It's Cole, you know."

As I open my mouth to speak, Ace runs in front of us pulling laughing Colby along. "Oh my fucking God, Annabelle!" he says shoving the poor thing into me. Colby hugs me with a shrug.

"What exactly is going on Aaron?" I ask puzzled.

"Uhm... Sorry? What's happening? You two are the next STARS of the fucking planet dude!" he says shoving both of us.

"He's been telling me this for the entire day. I'm fed up." says Cole quietly with a low chuckle. I face palm at that because that is so  Ace.

"Ace, it is absolutely no big deal." I begin, not daring to look him in the eyes. I fidget with my fingers which I do when I'm uncomfortable in a situation. "I'm sure you would have done just fine if not even better-"

"Excuse me?" he starts wide-eyed "I refuse to even think to accept the fact that you just said that. We both know damn well that you two have A* in drama, so shut the fuck up." he says trying to maintain a serious expression.

I hear a deep chuckle from behind me. "I mean... he isn't wrong."

Cole then puts his arms around my waist and buries his head into my neck.

I feel my cheeks burn more and more by the minute as I bite my lip I look down. "Okay yeah, you're right Ace." I look up at him and his eyes are even wider than in drama class, which I never thought was possible. I am ready to catch his eyes if they fall out. I laugh at him and enjoy the moment.

"Heeey, Colby!"

And... there goes our moment.

I hear a handshake, the voice of this person isn't familiar even a tiny bit. I turn around to see that Oxford kid that we saw yesterday. Izzy and I share a confused look as Cole brings him over to introduce us. "Okay so, everyone this is Kenneth, Kenneth this is everyone." He says starting to point everyone out one by one. "Aaron, Isabelle and Annabelle." he nods at each one of us. For some reason I already don't like this guy, he's giving off some weird vibes.

"Hello." he says  waving at us. As i give him a half-smile and a suspicious nod, Izzy and I share a look.
