The air felt foggy; sort of heavy as well. It was as if you could feel the odd redness of the sky, illuminating down onto the ground.
Murphy lay on the ground, unconscious. He was bleeding out faster and faster every minute. Bellamy ran to his side and applied pressure to the wound.
Clarke held Lexa tightly, pressing her against her chest. She was suddenly hit with the realization that Madi could be in trouble. Clarke started panting loudly while Lexa whimpered in her mother's arms. She squeezed her eyes shut and tried to stop panicking.
Miller struggled to get the knife out of Emori's grip, slicing his own hand open. He screamed in pain but eventually was able to throw the knife onto the ground.
"I'm gonna kill you! I'm going to kill all of you!" She yelled, trying to break free.
"Clarke! Clarke! Someone check on Clarke and Lexa." Bellamy ordered.
Clarke was trembling. She tuned out the world around her. When she opened her eyes, everyone had vanished. She looked down to see Lexa and Madi in her arms.
Madi had different clothes on; normal clothes. Swung over one shoulder, was a blue backpack.
"Mom, I need to tell you what we learned at school today. It was so cool! Come on."
Clarke blinked her eyes a few times. Madi dragged her and Lexa into a house. Inside, Bellamy was cooking. He had an apron on over his regular clothing and a knife in had to chop some carrots. Bellamy placed them in a big pot of soup and greeted his family at the entrance.
"Hey, baby." He kissed her on the forehead. "Madi! How was school?"
"Well, we did this cool experiment today. So first..."
Her voice had faded out as Clarke walked away. She mumbled a quiet "I'll be back" and went up the stairs.
There were four rooms. The first one was big, with a queen-sized bed. This was their room, Clarke and Bellamy's. At the bedside table, was a turned off baby monitor. Clarke flipped the switch at the back of the device. An image of a room appeared. She walked past the bathroom in the first room, back to the hallway.
Looking in each room, she kept going until it matched the image on the screen.
It was a nursery room. The walls were painted a subtle yellow color. By the wall was a white crib. She placed the monitor on a white drawer.
Clarke smiled and rubbed her baby bump.
"Clarke?"
She turned to see who was calling her, but there was no one at the doorway. Clarke walked out the door, out the hall and back down the stairs.
Bellamy was checking on the soup and Lexa was listening to Madi's story. She raised an eyebrow, wondering who had called her name.
Slowly, Bellamy, Madi, and Lexa all turned to face her.
"Clarke." They said at the same time.
"What's happening?"
"Clarke" They chanted, over and over again.
Tears fled down her face. Clarke shut her eyes, squeezing them tight. The voices faded out, being replaced with crying sounds.
Opening her eyes once more, Lexa was clinging onto her leg.
"Clarke!" Bellamy grabbed Clarke's arms. She looked up. "Are you okay?" She nodded. "Take Lexa. Take Lexa somewhere safe."
Clarke was frozen.
"Mama." Lexa tugged at her sleeve. Bellamy kissed the top of Lexa's head and whispered something to her. "Clarke! GO! Now."
She snapped out of whatever had happened suddenly and picked Lexa up. Clarke began to run, as fast and far as she could without entering the forest.
Meanwhile...
"We can rest soon, just a little further." Octavia stood at the front of the group with Madi. "Here, I've been meaning to give this to you."
She unbuckled her scabbard from around her waist and handed it to Madi.
"Your sword? Why are you giving this to me?"
"Well it was mine when I was training under Indra and when I became Blodreina, but I don't need it anymore." Octavia smiled, the weight of all the deaths she had caused had been lifted off her. "Anyway, I wanted to give you something special. You know, something personally from Auntie Octavia. Plus, I have this baby now."
Octavia raised her gun in the air.
"Thank you." Madi was still a little confused but appreciated the gesture.
So far, they hadn't seen anything interesting. The group had grown tired from walking all day without stopping. They had stayed inside the force field, but Bellamy and Clarke had gone inward, so they didn't want to go the same way.
"There is literally nothing here, it's just a vast of trees and..." Octavia's voice trailed off as she raised her gun up.
Gaia's eyes darted around the clearing, "What's happening?"
Madi stood in the middle of the group, protected.
Circled around them, people wearing odd clothing, like rags, pointed guns at them.
"And the cycle comes around again," Madi mumbled.
Octavia slowly stepped forward. "We come in peace."
The unknown group didn't talk.
"Do...you...speak...English?" Jordan stretched out the words.
One of the people cocked their guns. There were 9 people surrounding them, but only three of them had guns. Whereas, the Earthly crew all had weapons ready to fire.
"Lower your guns."
"Nou move!" Octavia yelled in Trigedasleng.
Madi's eye flickered, like something freed from inside her. She didn't hesitate to hurt the strangers.
"Emo gonplei ste odon," she raised the Octavia's sword in the air. "Jomp emo op! Frag emo op!"
Octavia's head whipped around to stare at Madi. She hadn't expected this at all.
The group began to charge at the strange people.
However, they just stepped back and pushed their masks into their face. The one that spoke earlier stepped down hard on a plant and it began to spray some sort of mist into the air.
The entire group became nauseous and one by one, they fell to the ground.
Trigedasleng Translations:
