Only time will tell Raman just how explosive Ishita can be.
Chapter Two
The Bhalla's have left from the Iyer House and Madhavi, aka Madhu is sitting with her daughter trying to understand her state of mind through her facial expressions.
If there's any one thing Madhu dislikes about her daughter it's her habit of bottling her feelings. However, Madhavi feels that she needs to speak to her daughter
"Ishu, what happened, why are you looking so lost? Are you not happy?"
Ishita does not want to spoil her mother's happiness. This is one thing Ishita needs to stop doing: giving importance to her mother's happiness over her own.
She doesn't tell her mother of the havoc playing in her mind, rather she lies
"Nothing Amma. Just had a long day at work. That's why I'm tired. Please don't worry about me."
Ishita lies convincingly and her mother doesn't prompt her any further, relieved that finally her daughter will settle in life.
"You will leave for your own house after a few days and I will be free from my responsibility."
Ishita feels dejected that her mother considers her a responsibility which needed to be fulfilled but smiles, nonetheless.
On the other hand, Raman is laying in bed, Ishita's thoughts playing in his mind since he first laid sight on her.
It isn't love at first sight and neither is it attraction. It's sheer lust which Raman feels towards Ishita and wants to get married to her to quench his thirst.
Raman steps downstairs as his mother jokingly remarks that his marriage has reconnected him to his parents whom hadn't seen him in the longest time.
He gets straight to the point.
"Maa, aap jald se jald shaadi ki taiyaariyan kar lijiye. I want to be married by next month. I'm telling you isse zyaada delay nahi honi chaiye."
Toshi ji was amused at Raman's behaviour
"Puttar shaadiyon ke maamle paicheeda hote hain. Khoob taiyaariyan karni padhti hain."
Raman was taking none of his mother's lectures and he blatantly told her
"Maa, mujhe aapke lectures nahi sunne. Main ab Ishita ke bina nahi reh sakta. I want her as my wife. That's final."
Toshi ji was jubilant thinking that her son whom was point blank refusing to even consider marriage a while back was proposing it himself now. She hadn't noticed his tone which made it appear like Ishita was his property and he had to claim ownership immediately.
"Theek hai Puttar. Jaisa tu kahe. Hum Pandit ji se baat karte hain aur phir mere puttar ki shaadi ho jayegi."
Toshi ji had a bad habit of mollycoddling Raman, giving into all his demands and worst of all was that Om Prakash never stopped his wife. He let her be.
The couple hadn't realised the harm they were causing.
Raman hugged his mother and asked for her phone, which would have Madhu's number.
He came back into his room and fell on his bed, calling Madhavi, acting to be a shareef zaada to impress her.
"Namaste Aunty, kaisi hain aap? Darasal mujhe Ishita se zaroori baat karni thi. Agar aap bura naa maane toh kya aap please unhe phone de sakti hain?"
His tone was soft and patient. He made sure not to sound eager or desperate as it would hamper the image of a sanskari boy he wanted to project in front of his mother in law.
"Namaste Raman. Main theek hoon beta."
Raman rolled his eyes. He didn't care about Madhu's wellbeing, he had merely asked as formality and now that she was telling him, he wanted to tell her to be quiet and give the phone to Ishita straight away. Yet, he had to keep his calm.
He heaved a sigh of relief as Madhavi came to the point.
"Ishita video conference mein hai kuch foreign clients ke saath. Ek baar uska kaam khatam ho jaiye toh main usse bata doongi ke tumne phone kiya tha."
Raman was fuming with anger, inwardly, though he stayed calm and responded
"Theek hai aunty. Thank you. Ishita ko zaroor bata dijiyega ke maine phone kiya tha."
He ended the call and threw his phone on the bed. A sense of inferiority settled in his mind just thinking that Ishita was a working woman whereas he lived off his father's money.
It was indigestible to Raman that his wife would be working. He had never seen the woman of his family going outside the house to make a living. How could he then possibly allow Ishita?
Raman wanted Ishita all to himself.
He thought he will talk to her about leaving her job when she would call him.
Will two such different personalities be able to live a happy life with each other?
