Six months ago...

My feet were propped up on the dash and my hand was lazily playing with my hair. Maria kept tapping her hands on the steering wheel, the gears in her mind turning.

"I could hit up my friend Blaze. He always has weed on him AND he's single!" Maria wiggled her eyes at me.

I cocked one eyebrow at her and a slow grin spread across my lips. I don't see why this couldn't be interesting.

"Call him then." I pulled my feet down and faced her.

She pulled his number up and hit call.

"Put it on speaker phone!" I whisper yelled while flipping my hair over my shoulder.

Ringgggg

Ringgggg

"Hello?" A deep, husky voice answered the phone.

For some reason a blush crept up my cheeks and I dropped my head to examine my nail beds.

"Blaze! What's up?" Maria answered him with a preppy tone.

A low chuckle came through the phone making me look out the window. How could someone sound so sexy over the phone without even trying.

"Shit, not much. What about you?" It didn't take but a second for Maria to jump straight to the point.

"Looking for something to do! Me and my single best friend Dane are trying to find someone willing to smoke with us. You down?"

I'm pretty sure my cheeks were the color of tomatoes and I slapped at her shoulder sending her a what the hell look. She just winked at me.

"Single huh? Is she cute?" My mouth dropped open.

"Fuck yeah she is." I was having trouble concealing the embarrassment, but it felt like it  was leaking from my pores. Never in my life had I expected anything like this.

"Well shiiit. Come on over. You remember where I stay?" Maria told him yes and then promptly hung up. I laughed to cover up my extreme nerves.

"I can't believe you've done this! What if he thinks I'm actually hideous?!" I dropped my head into my hands and let out an exaggerated sigh.

"Dane, shut up. You are absolutely gorgeous and if Blaze doesn't think that, then fuck him." She shrugged. Then continued with, "At least we're gonna get high."

I laughed and tried to relax. What he thinks doesn't matter. We're just going to have fun.

The drive to Blaze's house wasn't far from the bank we were parked at. The winding road was narrow and led to a small yellow house just a little off the road on our right.

Butterflies erupted in my stomach at the awkwardness I knew was about to come from me. I can't believe I'm about to meet a guy whom I was introduced to as single.

A tall figure came out of the house and walked slowly down the front steps. He looked in through the windshield at me as he walked around to Maria's side of the car, hopping in the back seat.

"Hey Blaze!" Maria turned around in her seat to look at him in the back. I do the same and my eyes widened in surprise. This boy, man actually, was attractive. Like stupidly attractive.

He looked at me and held out his hand.

"You must be the single best friend Dane." I looked down in embarrassment and shook his hand. He kept our hands together for a little longer than expected and I looked into his eyes. His beautiful blue-hazel eyes.
