"Dane you have to try this drink!" El, being slightly tipsy, awkwardly hustled her way over to me and then shoved the cup in my face. This left me no room to reject her offer so instead, I slowly took a sip of this mystery drink and my eyes instantly went wide.
"What is this?!" Her grin was wide and she giggled at my, still very huge, eyes.
"It's called Purple Haze but with tequila." Nodding at this newfound information, I took another quick sip which caused El to snatch her drink away from me.
"I'll go get you one. Why don't you go dance?" Before I could detest, she had stumbled away to fetch me a drink.
I sighed. I guess there wasn't really a reason to not have a good time.
Bussin by Tay Money came on and this caused me to laugh. El always made me dance with her to this song at home. I let the familiar beat course through my limbs and before I knew it, El was next to me handing me my drink, dancing in sync with me.

The song ended but that didn't stop the two of us. Our bodies kept going with the music and surprisingly they were playing some pretty good songs. El had the idea to chug our drinks so we could dance more freely, thus causing my drink to be gone in no time. After the fourth of fifth song, I was getting pretty thirsty so I left El to her own devices and went back to the table where Trina was seated.
"Need a drink?" I nodded my head dramatically and gave her a thumbs up letting her know that I would pay her back afterwards.
She smiled softly at me and got up to head to the bar. Digging in my purse, I fished out my phone and scrolled through my feed. Nothing seemed to be entertaining enough and just as I was about to put my phone away, I felt a presence looming over me.
"Can I help you?" I looked up with a slight frown. My eyes connected with a beautiful pair of green eyes that seemed very familiar. This man was very attractive and his smile seemed to grow, the longer it took me to recognize him.
"I'm Lee." He held out his hand and I took it, trying my hardest to remember. His gentle grip seemed to shock my brain which caused me to gasp.
"Of course! Oh my gosh. Sit down!" I scooted over so there was room for the both of us in the booth. He gratefully took my invitation, all while smiling at me.
"How have you been? It's been so long." I twisted my torso to fully face my attention on him, and I couldn't help but breathe in his heavenly sent.
Holy shit Dane. Stop acting like a stalker.
"I've been good, although I haven't gotten to share a cigarette with a beautiful girl in a while." He sexily winked at me, bringing up the last time we met, which caused a full blown blush to heat my entire body.
"Well, someone might be willing, once she drinks her beverage that's on the way." Somehow I managed to flirt back and not sound like a total idiot. This caused Lee to grin widely and look for the person delivering my drink.
Trina finally came through the crowded dance floor with a frown etched deep into her face.
"What's wrong?" I couldn't help the immediate question which caused me to completely forget about Lee sitting right next to me.
She sat down my drink and plopped into the booth across from us. She did the "bro" handshake with Lee and proceeded to drop her head into her hands.
"El is fucking drunk and after throwing up in the bathroom, decided she still wanted to dance." This information also caused me to frown. I took a few sips of my drink and started to feel the buzz of the alcohol once again.
"Maybe you should take her home." I suggested, forgetting that they were my ride.
"Yeah but I know you aren't ready to leave, Dane. And anyways this whole night was for you." I waved her off and pushed my drink away.
"No it's okay. We can come back another time."
"Or I can just take you home?" Lee leaned around to look me in the eyes and Trina looked between us.
"Um.. only if you're okay with it, Dane?" I looked at Trina and one of her eyebrows were raised but I could still see the question in her eyes. On one side she wanted me to get out and have some fun but on the other, she also wanted to make sure I was safe and comfortable.
My eyes glanced over at Lee and he was smiling at me with an innocence in his eyes. He honestly seemed like a really nice guy.
"Okay then. Trina take care of El, alright? She's going to be stupidly hungover in the morning and we'll both have to deal with her." She rubbed her forehead and stood up.
"Be safe you two." She waved goodbye and left us to go find her wasted girlfriend.
I chugged the rest of my drink and turned back to face Lee once again.
"How about that cigarette?" He gladly took my hand and led me out of the club and to his car.
Four months ago...
My phone buzzed repeatedly and I groaned. My eyes squinted from the brightness of it as I tried to find what or who the hell had woken me up at four in the morning.
Babe I'm sick. Can you come take care of me? I don't have any medicine.
The memory of last night replied in my mind. Blaze yanking me around, pushing me into the car, and then the silence. His silent treatments were the worst.
I'll be on my way in a few.
I didn't even think, I just acted. My feet hit the floor and I grabbed some clean yet comfortable clothes to wear for the day. Not even bothering with any makeup, I treaded down the stairs and made it to my bathroom. Once my hair was brushed and I had the sinus medicine in my purse, I jotted down a note for mom and headed out to my car. Blaze sent another text which I checked before starting the engine.
Just let yourself in when you get here. I'm on the couch. I love you.
A slight numbness spread from my chest as I read his last threes words but just waved it off as sleepiness.
I love you too.
Fifteen minutes later, I arrived at his house and did like he had instructed. Before he could talk, I softly questioned him while getting a glass of water.
"Have you ate anything?"
"Not yet. I'm not really hungry."
"You need some chicken soup." I was digging around the pantry trying to find some when I felt Blaze come up from behind me. His long arms wrapped around my waist and he planted a sweet kiss on the base of my neck.
"Thank you for coming." He nuzzled his face into my hair and breathed in my scent. I waved him off and continued on with the task at hand.
"No need to thank me. It's what girlfriends are supposed to do. Now go take that medicine I've laid on the counter for you." I pointed at the drugs and placed the soup in the microwave.
"It's what wifey material would do..." He whispered under his breath. Once the medicine was in his system and the soup in his stomach, we laid cuddled on the couch watching Rick and Morty.
After about an hour of holding our eyes open, Blaze led the way to his bedroom and we passed out as soon as our heads hit the mattress.
