Tails started to explain his plan. It made sense to me, but it was a bit complicated, and I don't know if Falco quite understood. Tails and Falco themselves were still going to follow the original plan, breaking Wolf out of the fortress on Pierus (Falco finally got the chance to tell Tails what it was called) and hoping his codebreaking skills would let their shuttle slip through the shield around Eggman's ship to fully disable it, as well as take out the early warning systems so we can attack more easily. Once they do that, I was going to fly Lusius into a different hangar than the one they landed in using a second shuttle (anything smaller would have been more suspicious and easier to pick out from the drones), instructing Lu how to fly it well enough to get home on the way. Then I was going to find Tails and Falco's vehicle and fly back to our own command ship with them, as waiting around for Lusius would give us too high of a chance of getting caught. Once Lu manages to put Infinite out of action (note that "out of action" was what Tails actually said, the careful choice of wording probably implying that he knows Lusius could never bring himself to actually kill the guy) and he's back with us, then we open fire from our frigate and hope Eggman doesn't notice the barrage coming at him until it's too late.
"Does that work?" Tails asked us after finishing, sounding rather out of breath.
"Sounds like it'll work," I told him. "Falco?"
He just nodded, probably hoping that he didn't need to understand the whole thing for it to work, as the words Tails had used were a bit more complicated than how I've just described them.
"Lusius?" Tails said.
I looked at Lu. He seemed scared. His eyes looked like they should be watery even though they weren't. "I..." he started. "I don't know..."
"What's wrong?" Tails asked him.
"I don't trust Sally..." he explained. "I don't think she'd care if I'm still on the ship as long as the shield is down... she's utilitarian, she'd rather maximize our chances of winning than save some random kid. I could never do that to anyone, not to mention myself..."
Tails looked at me and Falco expectantly.
"We can fix that," I said. "Falco, you getting what I'm getting?"
"Yep," Falco replied. "And it starts with an M. We'll get you out, Lu. Whatever it takes. But first we need to get in."
