3rd Person POV:
The Goddess of Shadows lay still on the bed, her chest rose and fell with rasping breaths. Though she knew her end was near, her face was relaxed and she looked at peace for the first time in years. She looked down lovingly at the little bundle in her arms, her little ray of sunshine, and smiled. Her mother, Ayala, queen of the Faeries stood solemnly in the corner of the room, exhausted from the whole ordeal. Her face was wrinkled with tiredness and stress, but she held on. She knew her daughter had moments before she was reunited with the light and she wanted to be there to send her off. Her daughter's soulmate had left her, claiming to go on a quest to find the couple a nicer house to live in, for they were expecting a child. He never came back, though The Goddess said she knew that he was still out there, alive and happy. She could sense it as they were soulmates, made for each other. But he was far, far away. Too far to ever come back. She knew that although he was not there with her, that he would always be a part of her story. He had changed her for the better, and shown her the good in this world. Although he was not here with her, he had given her a blessing. The little one she held in her arms was beautiful. She seemed like she glowed from within. Not a single tear had escaped her little eyes. From the moment she had entered this world, she smiled brightly, like the Summer's day.
"What will you name her?" Her mother asked.
"She will be called Raelynn." She whispered, her voice hoarse. "Will you take care of her for me? Will you be there for her, when I can't?" Her voice broke, as she struggled to hold back her tears.
"Of course I will darling, you know I will. She will know all about her wonderful mother, and I will remind her of your love everyday, for as long as I live. I promise she will not forget you. I swear that she will always know her worth, and that she is loved. She will be brave and fierce, but most importantly, I will teach her compassion. She will always be cherished, and I would never let any harm come to her." Ayala whispered. She left the room to grab some clothes for the little bean, but she couldn't hold her tears in any longer. Her body shook with sobs and she slumped against the wall, defeated.
The goddess of Shadows slumped in her bed, finally showing her exhaustion. Then, she turned to her newly born daughter. "I love you, more than anything in this world. You are my light, my darling. My everything. You will be strong, even without me, I want you to be brave. You will do great things, little one. Please, know that I will always love you, and be with you forever. You will face many hardships, but you will survive it all with your head held high. I wish that we had more time, I wish that I could spend forever with you. But our time was cut short. Remember, your strength is the light you shine against the dark." With that, she closed her eyes, and she was gone.
Little Raelynn finally began to cry her first tears. Her little hands reached for her mother's and she held on to the cold hand. She looked lost and empty, as if she knew what had just happened. She wailed and sobbed, begging her to come back and hold her, with mumbles and tears. She cried out for the mother she would never know, and also for the father, that would never be able to hold her. She cried for her family, but also, she cried for herself.
Every day, Ayala, the queen, took care of Raelynn just like she had promised. She made sure her Little Lynn always felt that she was loved and treated her as if she were her own daughter. Each day, Lynn brought her more and more happiness and joy. She was her little sunshine. The whole kingdom knew Raelynn. She was loved by all the Fae Creatures and was known to be able to tame any animal. Even the fiercest of beasts turned into cuddly animals at her slightest touch. She had all of the citizens wrapped around her finger as well. All adored and loved her. She was known to be kind and graceful, even as a child. Everyone knew that the high powers had blessed their kingdom with light. With Raelynn.
Ayala made sure Lynn never forgot who her mother was. She told her great stories about her mother and what she did. Although her mother's life wasn't always bright, Ayala told Little Lynn that The Goddess always learned from her mistakes and became a fierce, strong young woman who wouldn't let anything get in her way. Not even a man. She also told Raelynn what she knew about the little girl's father. She told her that although her father was human, he was a strong warrior, willing to fight for his family, and that he wanted to be a part of her life very much. She told her Little Lynn that her father loved her very much and that when she was older, she would take her to meet him. She told her granddaughter about soulmates, that she would one day find someone that would love her unconditionally. They would be drawn to each other and couldn't bear to be separated. She told her that her soulmate would be there for her when she needed him, and that they would have a bond that was unbreakable.
Raelynn soon grew to be like a daughter to Ayala. She and the king, Zyair, had two sons, Adryan and Marcellus. Seireah, Raelynn's mother had been the heir to the throne. After her death, Adryan, the oldest of Zyair's sons, became the heir. The two princes became like brothers to Raelynn. They played with her, taught her tricks, and when she pulled a trick on them, they tickled her until she had tears in her eyes from laughing. She had the best relationship with them, and they treated her like their little sister. No harm would ever come to her, as long as they would have a say in it. She had everyone wrapped around her little finger. Everyone loved and cherished Raelynn, she was the kingdom's hope, their light. She had everything that her mother ever wanted for her, a loving family and a happy life. Everything was picture perfect.
But everyone knows that happiness simply cannot last for long.
