Party Of F̶i̶v̶e̶ Six

Chapter ~ 1

It was our usual family dinner day at our restaurant 'Los Cantaritos'. Well today it was just me, Val, Mami, Papi and my baby brother Rafa. Both Lucia and Beto decided to ditch the dinner by giving lame excuses, and well Emilio is just not around with us as he is away with his band, and only comes home during weekends sometimes.

And there goes Val telling Mami and Papi how she's doing 9th grade math while papi makes a joke about how she can start tutoring her brother and by that he means Beto. 'Poor Beto he struggles so much with math' mami says making us all laugh.

"Mi amor how are your studies going?" mami asks me. "eh the usual mami, just got to cram it all up which for starters as you know I can't, I got to understand what they teach so yeah, overall its okay I guess" I shrug as I finish telling her.

So yeah, thats me. I'm 21 years old in college and my name is Lisa Acosta. And if you have not yet guessed, I have 5 siblings, and I'm the second oldest after Emilio. The 6 of us are very thankful of our parents for making all these sacrifices for us. I hope one day I'll get to repay them.

And there goes papi telling Oscar to give out Sangria's for every table, why you ask? we're celebrating in Val's honor. I'm so proud of my baby sister.

The Sangria's are served and as we all raise our glasses, papi's phone starts ringing to which mami tells him to ignore it as we're celebrating and I agree with her saying "papi please?" but papi takes it saying its from Pizzeria della posta.

When papi takes the call and starts to talk, he suddenly rushes over to the kitchen to tell all the employees without the papers to leave in the back.

Thats when the police officers enter asking for mami and papi. Just than papi enters in from the kitchen telling the officer that their free to check the employee's as all of them have papers. Thats when I hear the police saying "We're not here for your employees, Mr. Acosta. We're here for you. And your wife."

The moment I hear that both me and mami go towards the officer, mami holding Rafa, and Val trailing behind me. Mami goes over to the police asking "Did we do something wrong?" to which the police ask mami if she's Gloria Acosta and when mami replies with a yes, the officer ask her and papi for their papers. Which I know for a fact they don't have and never had.

I hold Val close to me as we both watch the exchange between our parents and the officer. How papi tries tell the officer there's a mistake and how we've had the establishment for 18 years, and how officer have been to our restaurant for the same. To which the officer replies asking just because he's had establishment for years the rules don't apply and than further telling that things have changed and they need to see their papers.

Val calls out to mami fully worried just as I am, I hold her close to my body not allowing her to go towards mami and papi. The moment papi confesses to not having any papers, the officer tells his partner to cuff both of them, thats when my whole world comes crushing down.

Mami tells the officer that they have a baby which non of them seem to listen. I run towards mami as she hands Rafa over to me. Val crying as she holds on to me. Papi begging the officers telling them not to do this in front of their children. Mami assuring us how everything will be alright, which deep down just can't seem to convince me. Val cries out more still holding on to me as the officers take away both my parents, papi turns to me saying "Lisa, call your brother's and your sister, and take care of them for us" the last part towards Val and Rafa.

I simply nod as I watch my parents being taken away, with my baby brother in my arms and my sister holding my waist crying standing besides me, as I'm still in shock of what had just happened. One minute we were all laughing and talking and eating dinner together as a family and the very next moment my parents are being cuffed and dragged out of their own restaurant.
