Chapter ~ 5

"Yep, family dinner together almost every night" Val tells mami who she's talking to via video call.

I was helping Luce with dinner, I have not been getting enough time to cook lately and also Luce doesn't really like to cook so we kinda get food from the restaurant these days. Although today she did make some pretty good meatballs.

I feel bad coz I promised mami we'd have home cooked meals atlest most of the times but I can't work alone if no one wants to help me especially with my exams coming closer. But atlest today I happy was happy that Luce tried to prepare something even though she doesn't really like doing it.

Val had just told mami how Luce had prepared the meatballs and Luce got all defensive, and went over and grabbed the phone from Val.

In the meantime I got the table ready for dinner and headed towards the rest of them as they all spoke to mami and papi.

Papi asked me how my studies were going but I didn't want to worry them saying they weren't going great so I lied. I felt bad lying to them but I didn't want them to worry.

That night I was awake because I had to put Rafa to bed. I got back to doing my studies when suddenly my bedroom door opened and I saw Val coming in.

"Val, why aren't you asleep? It's 2am in the morning. you have school tomorrow love." I asked her. I was worried about her she's been waking up more than ever these past few days sometimes keeping both me and Beto awake the whole while.

"I couldn't sleep, Liz" she told me. I was worried so I offered for her to sleep on my bed while I finished my work but than she said she wouldn't be able to sleep coz I was awake and hurried off to Beto's room before I could stop her.

The next day at college was like a blur to me, all I was worried about the whole time was trying not to sleep during lectures which did help but instead I couldn't focus on anything I was taught.

After college when I came home I went to sleep only to wake up due to the noise coming from down stairs. I was still tried but went down anyway only to see Val running up to her room. Luce and Beto were talking I don't what it was about and I didn't want to intervene.

"You're finally awake. But sadly we didn't get you dinner coz we weren't sure if you'd ever wake up." Luce told me when she noticed my presence.

"It's alright, I'll just whip something up. You'll go to bed. Oh and did anyone feed Rafa?" I asked them both.

"We did don't worry about him and also he's already asleep so you don't need to worry about a thing." Bey said to me.

I made my way towards the kitchen and made my self some mac and cheese, the one where you don't really need to waste time and also it tastes good.

Emilio had still not returned from the restaurant but I knew he would eventually so I went to bed. Just as I was about to fall asleep I woken up Val who wanted me to talk to her about her nightmares which I did.

She eventually fell asleep, so I went down in the hall and started doing some cleaning coz I couldn't sleep anymore. After a while when I finally went to my room to grab my books so that I could atlest do a bit of learning I noticed that my bed was empty.

I hurried towards Beto's room and when I saw Val in his arms I was finally breathing. I took my books back down and started reading my notes. Suddenly the front door opened revealing non other than Emilio who for some reason had a weird kind of smile on his face.

"What's made you so happy?" I asked Emilio, who on the other hand did not expect me and kind of got scared.

"Liz why are you up awake?" He asked. I shrugged and replied "Val woke me up, I've not been able to sleep since then." I said.
