"So today's like the last day we'll see each other??" Sallie says hugging Vera

"Why do you want to leave Roseville? I thought you like it here?" Davina joins in the hug

I don't even know why... My parents hate me
Why?
Maybe because I'm the only girl in my family
But how's that my fault??
To whoever's reading this, you might think I'm assuming nonsense, but that's the way I see it

I'm practically the weakest in academics in my family... And yet, they blame it on my sexuality.

My mother didn't go to school because her father thought she would waste his money and time.

Why??
This school has been nothing but a family to me, but they think it's slowing me down!
Fuck them...

"My parents think it's best for me, according to what they said" I say as I let go of my two best friends

I'm going to miss them
I'm going to miss them so much....

I didn't even realize I was crying until Sallie wiped my face and hugged me again

"Stay safe Vera" she says in between tears

Now we all started to cry, even Davina

The strongest of all..

"What are you all crying about?" Tommy asks as he enters the empty class

My crush.. I never told him how I felt
I can't tell him how I feel..
I'll miss him the most

"Vera's leaving" Davina says quickly wiping her face

He looked somewhat shocked and at the same time, Sad..

"oh... Well bye" he says and passes through me brushing my shoulder, he goes to his seat to pick up his bag

He turns to look at me and he looks away

Is that all?
He can't even say I'll miss you or a better farewell sentence?
Maybe he's happy I'm leaving... He's free from me then

But free from what?
Maybe all those times I unconsciously stare at him and he catches me and just gives me a scary look..
He's free from my stares.

"We have an hour left before school closes" Sallie says patting my back

"Is that all he's going to say?" Davina Cuts in, looking some what disappointed

Trust me, not only her, I was too

"I expected a hug or something cute" Sallie says and rolls her eyes

"Maybe he's in a huryy" I say

"you're as sad as we are Vera, don't deny it.. I'm sure you expected more.. We know you really liked him, but don't let that ruin your day even more" Davina says

This school will always be my Alma Mater

School's over and it's time to go
It's time to leave.

"let's take the bus today... My parents aren't coming" I say

"what do you think we were going to do before? Whether they were coming or not, today's your last day and we'll definitely make the most out of it"  Sallie says dragging both of us

Imma miss this wild cat

"You promise not to forget me?" I ask looking down, playing with my fingers..

"We won't!!!" they both say in Unison hugging me again

"I guess this is my stop" I say getting off the bus..

"We'll never forget you Vera" Davina yells

"Make sure to always be yourself over there, and don't forget to smileee" Sallie says

The bus starts moving and they wave at me, I wave back and turn to my street.

Gateway High school, I'm going to make the best out of you.
