The water surrounded me as I struggled, and I could feel my fear becoming a reality.
I always knew that cats couldn't swim well, and here I was, starting to drown.
My body kept sinking deeper and deeper, and there was less and less light.
I was holding onto my limited breath, trying to remove the chain on my leg.
Without my powers, and being a cat underwater, I was having a horrible time getting it undone.
My brain was starting to shut down, and the movements that my hands and feet were making slowed, the darkness starting to take over.
My eyes closed, and my grip loosened, the darkness taking over.
I numbly felt something pulling me, but I couldn't remember what.
When I did come to, I was in a cave, one of the rare air pockets beneath the ocean, coughing and sputtering.
My body was freezing and wet, but I was alive.
I opened my eyes, looking around to see who had saved me.
It was a girl, a pirate, with teal hair, and a golden shell locket around her neck.
I recognized her from the news, this was Uma, daughter of Ursula.
They called her evil, although, I guess they also said the same thing or worse about all of the inhabitants of Wonderland.
"I know you, you are the girl in blue," I said, leaning up against one of the cave's walls, relaxing.
The cave seemed, homey, almost.
It was about the same size as a house, with an almost perfect circular ring of water.
The rock ledge was about six feet wide all around, and there were ledges above it, with different potion bottles sitting amongst the dark rock.
There was also a cot in one of the corners, presumably where Uma slept
"And yet I do not know you. But, someone tried to kill you. Why?" She asked, mixing up a drink before handing it to me.
I paused, staring at it warily.
"Its okay. I wouldn't have saved your life only to kill you now. My mom did potions, and taught me from a very young age. She gave me her book too. This is simply a healing potion, to help you warm up and recover from almost drowning." She responded, and I quickly drank it, feeling it work almost immediately.
"Now, who are you?" She asked me, sitting down in front of me.
"Charlee Cheshire is my name, and as to who is to blame," I paused, trying to remember.
Who did throw me into that water?
"Charlee. Let me guess, an exchange student from Wonderland?" She asked, and I nodded.
"Well Charlee, let me tell you one thing about those kids in Auradon. They may be known as being the nice people, but they do not care about people like you and me. Because we are different from them." She said sadly, and I nodded.
"They taped hateful notes to my door. They just kept putting more and more." I replied softly, lowering my gaze from her.
"Well, you are safe now. You can stay with me as long as you like. I may ask a few favors, but nothing that would put you or anyone else in danger. If you would like." She offered, and I paused, thinking of Wyatt.
I was just dragging him down with me, being there.
I was taking away his chance at a normal life, and that was wrong of me.
