6. Impressions and Imperfections
Two hours later, Jade had been in the shower, blow dried and straightened her hair and got into the lilac dress. Now she was applying lipgloss to her lips. Standing in the bathroom looking at herself in the mirror, she looked good.
The dress showed the curves of her body and she looked...posh. She slipped on the high heels and smiled down at it.
It was beautiful; the sparkling gems dazzled her as it caught the rays of the setting sun. The flowers that she painted on her toenails looked good, too.
On top of the whole outfit, she added in a silver ring with a lilac flower on, silver hoop earrings and a bracelet with eight different charms on it. It had been a present to her from her mum and dad when she was six.
Over the years she collected eight charms: A silver dove, a strawberry, a sliver plated high heel charm, a charm that opened up and once had ‘fairy dust’ in it, a heart charm, an elephant charm, a sun and a pair of silver angel wings. It glided up and down her arms now. The silver bracelet that she was used to, felt soft on her skin.
She grabbed her clutch bag and walked down the stairs. Her mum was pleased that she was going out for a change and encouraged her to stay out as late as she can. What a mum!
She walked into Aaron’s garden at five to seven. Jeremy was leaning against his car texting. He noticed her and walked over.
“Hey, so you’re the famous Jade Anderson.” He said eyeing her up and down. Jeremy wasn’t cute, although he shared many features with Aaron.
His ginger hair was spiky on his head and he was much taller but his eyes and his lips were exactly the same.
“Sorry?” she said. Jeremy laughed.
“You know my brother’s been talking about you, a lot. He’s got a thing for you I tell you-” he said but was interrupted by Aaron’s voice. Jade’s heart started somersaulting.
Aaron talked about her. Aaron had a thing for her. Just then, Aaron came over.
“You look nice Jade,” he said smiling. Jade blushed and said thank you but it came out sounding like a mouse squeak. He didn’t look too bad himself.
He wore skinny black jeans with a white shirt and a black blazer. The hair that always flopped down in front of his eyes were gelled back, it made him look dangerous rather than the gentleman he had always been since they’ve met. The sound of two pairs of heels made them turn to the door.
It was Carolynn and Ella. Oh my! They were gorgeous. Jade felt a little down when she saw what they were wearing. Carolynn, with her white, strapless hi-lo dress and white stilettos, looked elegant. And Ella, with her short, cream lace dress and her silver sling-back heels, looked sexy.
They walked over and joined the conversation. Carolynn was as nice to Jade as she had been on their first meeting.
