Chapter Eighteen

The disappointment I felt when we pulled up at his house later that night was surprising. Suddenly, I didn't want the night to end. I turned to Forrest and when I stared into his blue eyes there was only one thought going through my mind.

I wanted him to kiss me.

Before I could contemplate further on the surprising thought going through my head, the clicking of the lock shook me out of my reverie.

"I'll walk you to your door." Forrest said and I nodded absent mindedly before hopping out of the car. As we walked to my front door goosebumps rose on my left arm were his hand brushed mine.

"I really had fun tonight, Forrest." I told him when we got to the door. Even in the faint light I could see the the blush that appeared on his cheeks.

"I really hope we can do this again sometime." I said digging my hands into my bag as I began looking for my keys. Forrest didn't answer me as he looked away and he tucked his hands in his pockets. Once I had the keys in my hand, I turned to him expecting him to do something.

To kiss me perhaps.

"Have you told your parents that you are spending  Thanksgiving with us?" He asked suddenly bringing me back to reality.

"No, not yet. It's still a month away and I have plenty of time to tell her." I told him and he nodded. A few seconds of silence passed between us before he spoke again.

"I should get going." He said, gesturing towards his house. I pressed my lips together as I nodded.

"Yeah." I said trying not to let my disappointment show. He took a step back and my face fell. Just when I was about to go inside, a frown appeared on his face before he walked up to me. I looked at him in confusion as he grabbed my chin. My breath caught in my throat when his lips landed on my cheek. All too soon he pulled back and it took everything in me not to pull him to me.

"Goodnight Elle." He said walking away.

"Goodnight Forrest." I said surprised that I was able to say something in return. I watched him walk away with one thought in mind as I walked into the house and made my way to my room, I couldn't believe it.

I liked Forrest Royal.

Shit.

"You what?!" Gabby screamed and I shoved my head into my locker as people's eyes turned to us.

"Why don't you say it louder? I don't think the people in the next continent heard you." I muttered in embarrassment.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." She repeated with a baffled look on her face. "It's just it's Forrest. Out of all the boys I thought you'd ever show interest in, Forrest Royal isn't even among the top hundred." I rolled my eyes at her dramatic antics as I slammed my locker shut and turned to face her.

"I was surprised too, you know. The feeling just popped out of nowhere." I said and I watched as she nodded her head.

"OK, so what are you going to do about it?" She asked and I shrugged.

"Nothing." I replied simply as we began our walk to our next class.

"Nothing?" She almost screamed and the look on her face almost had me on the floor, rolling with laughter.
