Lynn's POV

I'm walking down the hallway with Mar and Uriah. As we go to lunch, I see my sister Shauna talking to an older guy. I immediately recognize him as Uriah's older brother, Zeke. At least, I think that's who he is.
I turn around fixing to ask Uriah about his brother, when I see Marlene punch him in the shoulder playfully. They laugh and smile at each other.
I just roll my eyes and turn back around.
If my sister becomes popular because of Zeke, then she is going to change dramatically. I can't let her become one of those snotty, stuck up cheerleaders.
"Go on to lunch without me," I say, talking to Marlene and Uriah.
I hear them still laughing so I turn around and stop walking. They both bump into me. Neither of them was paying any attention to me at all.
"Oh sorry," Marlene says.

"Yeah quit flirting and listen to me," I say.

"Lynn we weren't flirting," Uriah states.

"Shut up," I snap back at him. He puts his hands up in front of his face in defense.

"Sorry," he says.

I sigh. "Go on to lunch without me. I'll be there later."

"Okay," Marlene says. They both walk off. I thought that they'd might ask me why I wasn't going. Apparently they're too caught up in each other. Ugh.

By the time I look around for Shauna, she's already gone. There's no reason to go searching around the campus for her. Just- whatever!

I go to lunch and grab myself a ham sandwich. I pick up a bottle of water and find Uriah and Marlene. They're sitting with another girl. She has long, blonde hair and shimmering blue eyes. She's actually really pretty. I make my way over to the table and sit beside the girl, across from the two love birds.
"Hi," I say.

"Hey," she says and smiles.

"I'm Lynn."

"Carolyn."

I glance over at Uri and Mar. They're staring at each other. I bet they haven't even noticed I sat down.

"Guys?" I say. The word seems to hang in the air because they don't answer me.

"We're having a staring contest," Marlene says.

I scoff. "That's a nice excuse to stare at each other."

Marlene blinks and gives me an evil glare. Uriah is cheering himself on and being a weirdo.

"Why are you in such a bad mood Lynn?" Mar asks me.

"Because you two are leaving me out and you don't even care," I state. I groan and sigh.

"Maybe you should pay attention to her if you consider her your friend." I look at Carolyn. She said that. She's defending me. I've only said three words to her and I think we're closer friends than I am with Uriah and Marlene at the moment.

Uriah gets quiet and I can tell he's thinking. "Sorry, Lynn," he says.

"Yeah." I look at him. I can tell that he's really sorry. The look on his face tells me. Uriah's frowning and Marlene rolls her eyes at me.

"What was that for?!" I ask. "You just rolled your eyes at me. Are we not friends anymore?"

"You roll your eyes at me all the time, and you think I don't notice."

"Oh so you do notice me. You just ignore me."

"Lynn-" Uriah starts.

"You're not in this conversation," I snap back at him.

"He can be if he wants to," Marlene says.

"Quit defending your boyfriend!" I'm almost yelling now.
