The Island

Midnight strikes and it all begins.
All of my thoughts start swirling.

I'm in the crowd of people,
but I am not part of the people.

In the mix of it all, it's not enough.
A text , a call. It's not enough.

I stand alone most days.
I'm staggering down this cold road.

I'm not just alone.
I'm lonely.

To be so lonely, I finally understand.
It's not simply just being one man.
It's to be with everyone and still feel like you're the only one.

To realize how unconnected you are from the ones who surround you.
To understand that you're present physically, but emotionally lost.

Like an island.
