'Dream as big as you want' her father always said 'If you put your soul and effort into it, you can accomplish anything my little butterfly'And she did, she dreamed, she work hard every day and finally she was moving to Seoul where she could have more opportunities to become a performer. she loved sing and even more, she loved dancing. It was her dream and it was becoming reality, but she never realized how real it was until she had to move to another -unknown city- by herself.
She wanted nothing more than to perform on a big stage, but she knew it wasn't going to be easy, she needed to go on auditions everyday and look for a temporary job that allowed her to do that.
Wheein sighs, with her mind divided between reality and expectations and her heart happy because somewhere deep down she knows she's going to be doing what she loves the most, soon.
The department she rented is not exactly what she expected "It's... smaller... and darker than it appeared in the pictures" she says to the owner "and it's cheap" the women says rolling her eyes. Wheein considers it and nod. It'll do for now, she thinks.
The first couple of weeks she spends her days going from audition to audition, with absolutely no luck, but she tries to stay positive and keep a smile on her face.
"You have talent girl" the producer of a play says smiling to her, it's a small one, but Wheein thinks that she can start there and climb her way to the top with her hard work "but you're not what we're looking for" or maybe hard work isn't enough.
After a lot of "you can sing but you don't have the look we're looking for", "maybe if you were taller", "we need someone skinnier", "We need someone with more vocal range", "you need more passion when dancing", "more", "less", "higher", "lower", "sorry, it's a no", "no", "no"... she decides to spend money in something that she had decided not to.
The past few days had been rough and even when she's getting out of money, she wanted to get all the stress out in the only way she knew she could, getting drunk in a bar.
It's cold outside but she decides to walk down street and hopefully find a nice bar, she can't even recall the last time she was out just to have fun.
The streets are full of people but it's incredible the amount of people that she sees at a certain street, Wheein thinks it must be something fun there so she goes directly to the crowd.
She finds out that the people are making lines to enter to a two different locations. It seems like there's two popular places there, but the people looks different from one to the other.
One of the places -'Sky' as she can read on the big red neon lights- seems like a fancy bar, all the people outside are well dressed, formal dresses, feathers, pearls and suits. And the other one, -'Kalon' written in white letters on the wooden sign- seems a lot more casual, all the people in there dressing with jeans, bright color shirts and boots?
She is totally not dressed to fit in the fancy one, althought it catches her attention a bit more, I would definitely come back there she thinks but for now KALON it is.
The line is long but the guard is allowing almost everyone to get in so it don't take long for her to get in. Wheein enters a hallway and can see through a glass wall the inside of the place, there's people drinking and laughing and a big long bar where there's a lot of bartenders. Beautiful man and woman serving drinks, wearing denim, red and black colors, cowboy hats and boots. They're showing so much skin but they look incredibly good, with big smiles on their faces and talking and laughing with the clients.
"It's called passion" a guy next to her says "that's why this place is so popular, they love what they're doing" Wheein notices the men, wearing jeans, boots and a revealing shirt "I need to ask you to keep walking if you want to go in, I'm sorry but you can't stay here looking all night"
The guy shows her a gummy smile and Wheein smiles and nods "It's 20 bucks by the way" he says erasing the smile. She struggles to get him the money, thinking if it is in fact a good idea to spent her money there, but she gives up, knowing that could be a good distraction from her last days.
She makes her way to the bar and a blonde girl approaches her "hey, what can I offer you?" she has a girl crush aura, her movements fluid but strong "What do you recommend to get off a horrible week?" they had to almost yell in order to hear each other, the bartender smiles at her and grab a small glass, turns the bottle on her hand throwing it on the air and catching it again upside down filling the shot "First, take this on one go" Wheein takes it and swallows it "Now, relax and enjoy this old fashioned and the show, it starts in a few minutes" with a wink of an eye she moves to the next client.
Wheein grabs the second drink and moves to a table decided to enjoy her night. After a few minutes the music stops, and one of the bartenders grabs a mic "HOW'S EVERYONE DOING TONIGHT?" he screams, all the people starts yelling and whistling "ARE YOU READY TO HAVE FUN?!" the response from the crowd is amazing, everyone screaming and lifting their drinks "All right, thank you all for being here tonight, my name is RM and I'm the responsible for all the music you hear here! And now let me introduce you to the rest of our crew" the guy says "First of all, we have an amazing dancer, she's one of the best in Seoul, our strong, beautiful, charismatic, MOONSTAR!" the girl that served Wheein the drinks get on the bar smiling and starts dancing moving her feet at the rhythm of the song and finalizing her short number by sliding along the bar gaining a lot of screams and whistles.
"Next we have the most important person on this entire bar, -I'm only saying that because he's the owner- just kidding, he's a very tall, very handsome, with wide shoulders and a bright smile, JIN!!" a tall guy goes up swinging his hips, spinning around and sending flying kisses to the customers "The next in line is our very own aphrodita, she's sassy, she's fierce, she's sexy, she's HWASA!" the girl is beautiful, she has a different kind of beauty, she's unique, her features and her make up make her look amazing, and the confidence she has makes her performance ten times better, she has a curvy body which makes her sutil moves look sexy "and last but not least, our bad guy, the one that your father don't want but you mother does... V!!" Wheein don't even realize when they all start dancing together, too caught up by the last guy, he has strong features, his skin is tan and his box smile is enough to get her drool over his beauty.
His steps are on the beat and the jeans he has on makes her legs look toned, the open shirt let the muscles of his abdomen pop out and Wheein had never been more impressed by someone.
Their eyes meet and that's when she needs to look other way, feeling like she's out of a trance, the other bartenders are dancing, all of them in the bar moving their feets at the same time and RM throws water to the clients that get too close to them making them back up.
When the song ends the four of them go down the bar and starts serving drinks again.
It was a fun night, and a couple hours later Wheein decides is time to go home. When she goes out she sees a man across the street smoking, but the thing that caught her attention is his outfit, suit pants, a white buttoned shirt without sleeves and a black corset, he is wearing black eyeshadow and a derby hat "it's a new place" a raspy voice says behind her "they're our biggest competition so far" she turns to see the guy talking and almost jumps of the surprise "V? right?" she asks trying to look calm even when she's screaming on the inside, he's ten times more beautiful up close. He nods and smile "Great show you gave there" she gestures to the Kalon bar "it's fun" "It is" he replies "I'm glad you had fun" the guy that charged the ticket appeared on the door "V, Jin needs you. Now" V nods and sighs "I hope to see you here again" he winks at Wheein and disappears through the door.
She walks down street, still a bit sad because of the rejection she had and because she loved the Kalon bar, but she knows that if she don't get a job soon she's not going to be able to be back there anytime soon.
It was a rough week but at least she can dream of V and maybe wake up to a more positive feeling.
