Chapter 9

I waited anxiously for 7:30 to roll around..

Krista had to leave around 6 ish because her and Mason were going to grab food before their movie.

Gosh I can believe I'm even doing this right now after what happened last night. 

It's 7 and I hear my doorbell ring and my stomach absolutely dropped.

I opened the door to a smiling Kaden, ugh.. he looked so good.

He was wearing black swim trunks, a white t-shirt with his black vans and his brown hair spiked in all different directions. 

"Sorry I'm a bit early.." He laughed while scratching the back of his neck.

"Let me guess.. Kri-" I started to say.

"Ahhhhh" he threw his hands over his ears like a child.

"Im taking that as a yes" I giggled looking at him

Geez thank you Krista I rolled my eyes internally.

"okay well let me grab my wallet" I started to walk away from the door.

"um yea no, you're not gonna need that" He smirks and grabs my hand before I could walk away.

Oh my god..

I didn't even fight it, I just walked out and hopped in the front seat of his car.

I was so nervous, I could hardly breathe sitting in the car and it was definitely not the heat..

We pulled up to POPS, we used to go all the time when we were kids.. God I never realized how different my life was without him. I used to pretend I never even met him, and it worked for a really long time until something changed in him..

We ordered our usual at the restaurant, Kaden with a steak burger, fries, and a chocolate shake and me with pancakes (listen anytime is breakfast time) and a strawberry shake.

We talked a lot during our eating, about everything really. School.. Stacey.. it all really took me back.

When we were finished we got in the car and headed to the beach.

We got there at sunset, the beach was packed.. 

Jesus thank you Krista for forcing me out.. haha

"Hey im gonna go get us a drink okay?" Kaden looked at me.

"yeah sure, that'd be great" I smiled back.

I walked around the beach, I stopped by some old friends to say hi; Morgan, Sophia, and a few others and then Stacey found me..

"SOOO you enjoying my sloppy seconds?" She glared at me laughing with a red cup in her hand.

"Im sorry what?" I took a step forward.

She stepped back frighted by the dead tone in my voice.

"y-you heard me.." Stacey said almost hesitantly.

"so this what you've resorted to?" I paused. "you really want to do this right now" I smiled.

"you know maybe your anger issues drove her away" She replied confidently.

"who.?" I gritted my teeth

We've gathered quite the crowd now.. some people I've never even seen before, but where the hell is Kaden, its been 15 minutes..

"well your mother of course, so tell me what's it like to be an orphan-" she almost finished when..

"DON'T YOU DARE FINISH THAT SENTENCE" Krista jumped in

ha, the rivalry has arrived ladies and gentlemen.

I grabbed the red cup out of Stacey hand and threw it all over her Gucci swim suite

"aww im so sorry, maybe daddy's money can get it dry cleaned for you" I smiled walking away to hug Krista 

Walking away I heard the most high pitch ear raping scream ever and then the occasional "OOHS" 

"you made it" I smiled walking up to Kris

"well of course I did, are you crazy? I felt my Vedy senses tingling and knew that my Veda Summers was about to curb stomp a hoe" She laughed until tears formed

"Did you by chance see Kaden when you walked in?" I asked hesitantly.

"I did.. he was with some blonde girl.." She replied quietly.

"Of course he was" I smiled knowing I was about to cry.

"Im sure it was nothing.." She tried to grab my hand.

"Yeah just like what last night meant.. nothing." I walked away.

As I walked away I heard Krista start screaming Kadens name.

I made my way to the water after I probably drank way too much, I took off my cover clothes and waded my way into the now dark waters since the sun was almost gone.

I stood there for a while just doing my own thing. Until I heard noises behind me so I turned around quick enough to see Kaden wading out towards me.

I scoffed.

"WELL WELL WELL. look who's decided to join the party" I dead eyed him.

"Listen V, I can expl-" He started.

"ohhh I bet you can, did blondie just throw herself at you and let me guess you just couldn't resist it could you? Not even for me, but I mean hell I'm nothing special just a sad orphan girl." I blurted.

"Ved you've had too much to drink, let me take you home.." He looked at me sincerely.

"You know since my mom left AGAIN hahah. I've become too attached to you, funny how quick that happens to me"

"ved-" I proceeded to interrupt him again.

"no don't ved me, I didn't even want to come tonight and then at dinner I finally thought you changed but then we got here and well turns out iiiiii was wrong. wow. shocking. oh and your girlfriend Stacey came up to me. hmp sloppy seconds." I mumbled right before yep you guessed it I threw up everywhere.

Kaden pulled me back to shore.

"get off of me" I sighed

Kaden looked at me and just hugged me..

"Kaden im serious" My voice cracked while tears built up in my eyes.

He just kept hugging me.

"Im sorry V.. I never meant to hurt you ever." He said keeping his arms wrapped around me.

I really started crying then.

"You're right I was with the blonde chick but it was nothing like that, the truth is.. she's my dealer." He stopped breathing for a moment I felt it..

"K.. why didn't you ever tell me.." I pulled back to look at him shocked.

"Because V you have so much going on, I couldn't ask you to worry about me too.." He looked down at me and wiped a fresh tear away.

"Kaden..I-I'm so sorry I never realized.." I cried harder, not for myself though but for my best friend. He was hurting and I never realized it.

"shh.. It's okay V, I should've told you sooner I just didn't know how. We just became friend again and it wasn't your place." He said in between my sobs on his chest. 

We stood there for what felt like days, months, even years.. just in that moment right there with each other.

*Well well well now we know Kadens deep little secret and we got to see some heat between Veda and Stacey..*
