I don't know what the deal is about me telling people I'm pregnant and them passing out, but it kind of bothers me. I grabbed Taylor from under her arms and dragged her out of the car and toward the house. She nodded awake a couple of times, but other than that, she was out.
I wish I could be asleep like she was, but I was glad I wouldn't have to wake up to the painful bruise on my forehead. I opened the door and looked into the house for the first time in awhile. Steven and I had been staying in a nice hotel room for awhile, so seeing home was almost a miracle.
I moved toward the familiar living room and looked into the light blue room. Extravagant. I had to admit, it was beautiful to see after, well, I don't want to talk about it right now. She's moaning and holding her head in her hand when I get her on the couch.
"Hold on," I say and rush to the kithen to get some ice. It looks painful and I don't want her to be in pain. I open the freezer and grab the peas that are sitting on the bottom shelf and quickly hurry back toward the living room. When I get back, she looks responsive, but in some pain.
I hand her the freezing bag of peas and she puts it to her head.
"I'm confused..." She says and I explain everything again. You know about how I'm pregnant.
"Oh god..." She moans and I think she's toppling over again when she catches herself on the arm of the couch. It takes her a moment before she replies.
"How many weeks?" That's one thing I don't know.
"I don't know." I say simply. I was calmer than I thought I woud be, but I knew it wouldn't last long. She yawns and looks around the room.
"Has Calum called yet?" She asks reaching for her phone in her pocket, that's not even there. Well, how was I supposed to know?
"I don't know. Has he been gone or something?" She nods and lays down on the couch, trying to get comfortable.
"Concert down in Orlando." I'd be worried to, but oh wait.... that's right! I have a dying husband to worry about. I feel the attitude burn into my cheeks and I throw her the remote to our flat screen and begin to walk out.
"Where are you going" She asks me.
"To bed. I can't stand to be awake anymorw." I say and walk out. I pass the kitchen and go through the dining room until I reach the door to the upstairs. I open it and limp up the stairs as fast as I can, to try and escape the pain that's threatening to unleash from my eyes in any moment.
I open our bedroom door and slam it shut as hard as I can as if I'm a little kid who didn't get what they wanted. Oh that's right... I didn't get anything I wanted. Hot tears begin filling my eyes and next thing I know, I'm sitting against the end of the bed, bawling.
I had a baby on the way, a dying fiance, and no way to take care of myself. I have no money, no hope, nothing. Taylor tells me to have hope, but how can I? I can't that's the problem. All I can do is sit right here and cry. Cry about everything. About how my life is slowly ending, about the baby... THE BABY FOR GOD'S SAKE!
Why? Why a baby now? I'm not ready, obviously. I hear feet coming up the stairs and then they come through the hallway. There's a soft tap on the door.
"Maddy? Is everything okay?" Taylor's voice says from outside the door.
"Just go away." I say. The door opens to show Taylor's pale face.
"Maddy, there-there's something you need to see..." I lift my head up and look at her.
"What?" I ask, my voice cracking. Tears are still flowing down my face. She looks at the T.V that's mounted on the wall and then at the phone sitting on the night stand.
"Taylor, what's going on?" I whisper. She points at the phone and then at the T.V. I get up and walk over to the phone and pick up the receiver.
"You have 8 new messages..." The phone says.
"Message one, 1:41 am...." It beeps and then the message starts to play.
"You told me I was crazy. I showed you who was crazy...." I feel my heart stop and the room start spinning. My hands are shaking and everything is blurry.
"Message two, 1:56 am," beeps,"I don't see your body coming up, I assume your struggling just as I intended to happen. OH! Here comes the ambulance now!" Taylor comes up behind me and grabs me before I can completely drop to the floor.
"Taylor," I pant.
"I'm always going to be here for you..." She whispers. I am struggling to stand back up, but I can't manage to.
"Someone... planned this!" I sob she grabs me under the arms and helps me get to my bed.
"I promise... I won't leave you until this is cleared up. That's what friends do, right? Stay with eachother till the end..." She says tears running down her face.
"But, what about Calum..."
"He can wait. You're more important right now." She says and walks over to the phone, turning it off.
I can't feel anything. Shock just turned my body numb.
"Do you want to see what's on the T.V?" She asks me her hand hesitating on the remote. I nod, afraid for what's to come. The T.V flashes on and I see a car being rammed into a guard rail. The I realize... that's our car. I watch in horror as the person video taping crashes into the car one last time. The car flies through the air and lands in the water.
"NOOOO!!" I scream and grab onto the bed. I feel the water closing in around me. Steven's next to me, dying....
Taylor's slaps me hard. The T.V's off and she's standing over me the remote laying on the floor. She sees my reaction of knowing where we are and raps her arms around me.
"It's over... Shhh.... it's over...." I'm shaking and gripping onto her as tight as I can. I just let the tears flow. I can't contain it anymore.
"Maddy... it's okay..." She says, rocking me back and forth. The phone rings and I jump. Taylor looks at the caller I.D and drops the phone. We're frozen in place, not daring to move. I hear the voice mail kick on.
"At the tone, please record your message. When your finished recording, press one for more options." BEEP! I feel my heart thumping against my rib cage and then a voice speaks.
"Your next..." I see everything flash and it's total blackness.
