The dark cold night was lonely. The streets were uncharacteristically empty. This was strange, even for Gotham. Even so, the streets were being patrolled by Gotham's vigilante family.

"It's quiet," Robin stated. "Way too quiet."

"Every night isn't the same, Robin!" Lynx expressed. "To besides, this is good. Crime levels are dropping."

"Don't get confident about that." He argued. "This is Gotham! Things are always going to be dark."

"Don't you believe we're making a difference?!"

"Yes! At the same time, I'm not naive." He asserted. "Evidence has shown that Gotham will never change."

"That's enough!" Batman declared. "You both have good points. Now let's focus on what's at hand."

"There's nothing at hand! Well not in these streets which means they're plotting something."

"How do you explain the people of Gotham not roaming the streets, Robin?" Catwoman wondered. "I'm concerned as to why they aren't around."

Beep beep

"We read you, Alfred." Batman voiced.

"Sir, the long search, for the evidence of the hunted kids, has found a lead."

"Send it through and we will investigate." He replied. This was good news for Batman. He wanted to get ahead of this case especially since it involved kids being murdered.

"Right away, sir." Alfred's voice answered. "I must inform you however that this lead gave four pings."

"Meaning four locations." He stated. His HUD displayed the four addresses that were pinged. The locations were highlighted in red on the digital blueprints of the city. "Good thing there's five of us. It's time for Kate to suit up."

The door creaked open. Water dripped from a rusted hole in the galvanize above. Darkness covered each corner of the warehouse. If she was easily spooked, Batwoman would have felt afraid of what haunted this place. She was greeted with an unwelcoming smell.

"Alfred, are you sure that this is the place?" She wondered. "This place screams deserted. It stinks and it is almost corroded."

"Yes, Miss Kate. According to the pings, that location is the place."

"Copy that; I'll take a look around." Batwoman switched her suit's vision to thermal. Slowly surveying the area, she cautiously advanced. "I thought my first night back in the suit would be filled with some bone-breaking activities. This works too."

The horrid stench grew in potency as she got further into the warehouse. "I think I'm going to throw up." She held her head and took another step.

Plopped.

Instantaneously, she turned around. She wasn't afraid but her instincts were keeping her on guard. "There is someone here. I just heard someone step into one of the many puddles of water here."

"You sure it's a person and not some rodent?"

"I'm sure, Alfred. The sound of the splash would've been smaller if it was a rodent." She replied. Swiftly, she turned the corner, activating the voice modulator in her suit. "Who's there?!" Her arms were up in preparation.

There was a movement in the shadows. Batwoman turned her body to the sound of the steps, moving deeper into the warehouse. "Show yourself before I have to hunt you down."

The next corner she rounded hosted the source of the miasma. "I found what is causing the bad smell. We have a dead kid here." She crouched and examined the body. "Looks like she was here for a few days."
