bedtime for you

"Shhhh," a voice.

A huge looming blue fire, engulfing everything she loved. She saw Queenie running through, arms outstretched toward Grindelwald. Credence did the same. But she saw Newt, and she just crumbled.

"No! Newt!" She tried to reach for him, but he disappeared through the blue flames, eaten up like Leta, never to be seen again.

"Shhhhh. It's okay." Wasn't that Newt's voice? Was he okay?

She reached for the source of the sound, trying to find him, searching.

"Don't, Tina, it's okay, it's just a dream."

Crying, reaching, crumbling, falling.

"I'm here."

It hurts.

Newt wasn't actually awake when she started thrashing about, her wails just put him on autopilot. He hugged her closer, trying to calm her down.

"Shhhhh, it's okay," he tried to tell her. She kept wailing.

"Don't be scared. I'm here." She slowly got quieter and quieter, until she stopped and slept peacefully again. He was glad that at least he could solve one of Tina's problems.

"Tina..." he murmured softly. "I'm gonna get up now."

The response was a tighter hold on him.

"Tina... c'mon now, Tina... please?" He tried.

"Noooooo I'll die from coldness if you move..." she whined.

Newt sighed. "Please, Tina? I need to do work!" He tried to argue.

"Noooo work can wait." She whined more and hugged him tighter.

Newt gave up and snuggled closer. "Fine. Ten more minutes."

"Yay." She mumbled.

She was really warm. Like, not in a weird way, but warm. That was his Tina. His Porpentina Esther 'Tina' 'Middle head, narrow feet, salamander eyes' Goldstein. And he loved that.

Wait a second.

Was Newt in love?

This was different to the high school crush he'd had on Leta. Newt honestly was so confused about everything.

"Tina. It's been ten minutes, come on." He tried to move.

"No it hasn't! I'm too sleepy to get up. You're gonna be stuck with me forever!" She giggled drowsily. Newt loved this sleepy side of her. She was like a five year old.

"Well now I'm gonna have to pick you up and carry you to your room." He got up and picked her up.

"Whyyy!" She snuggled even closer, her eyes opening just a smidge.

He brought her to the girls bedroom and set her down. "Don't get up yet, Tina. You're tired."

"I'm not... tired!" She tried to protest. Only problem being she was arguing with her eyes closed.

"Bye, Tina." He closed the door.

She huffed. "Fine. But I'll get you back, Newt!" And then she closed her eyes.

Olivia saw Newt come out of the girls bedroom with a satisfied smirk on his face.

"Wow, Newt. That took a while." She giggled. "Is Tina really so hard to argue with?"

Newt chuckled. "Definitely so. I wonder where she got it from."

"Oh, yeah, Newt, Theseus is outside. He wants to see you." Olivia threw a banana at him, which hit him in the face.

"Oops. Apparently it's important." She walked away. Newt peeled the banana and took a huge bite. He grabbed his Hufflepuff scarf (house pride! Oh yes!) and left the house, where he saw his brother eating a banana as well.

"Newt! Where have you been?" Theseus asked.

Newt blushed a bit. "I, uh, I was busy-"

"-with your little girlfriend. Yes, I know, and mother and father would be proud of you!"

Newt fake gasped. "You wouldn't tell them!"

They both stood there chuckling at each other.

"Oh wait. Newt, there's some... ah... news, and you're gonna want to hear this. So, long story short, Tina's in danger."

Newt choked on his banana. "What?!"

Theseus flinched. He hadn't seen his brother so protective of someone apart from his creatures. "Yeah. Anyway, now for the long story. So you know how you two revealed him in the subway in New York? Yeah, and she disarmed him. Apparently his wand hasn't been working, and he figured that it was because she was the true owner of the wand. The elder wand.

"And now he's on his way somewhere near here, with his new followers, to, to put it simply, demolish Tina."

Newt was shocked. "Nobody could kill Tina!"

Theseus chuckled awkwardly. "Not with you in their way, and the fact that she's one of the best aurors in the world."

"How are we going to protect her?"

Theseus sighed. "I don't know, Newt. I just don't."

Not surprisingly, Tina was mad.

"What? So he's coming for me?" Tina cried.

Newt was desperately trying to calm her. "Well- we could run away somewhere, Tina, right? And we can escape him, Tina, everything will be fine-"

"No it's not!" She shot back. "If I die, everyone else will be fine. Maybe everyone could go to, say, England and I'll stay here and fight him-"

"No you're not." Nagini protested. "We are all staying here with you, no matter what.

"She's right, ya know!" Olivia called from the kitchen. "We're like a little family. We stick together, we fly together, we live together, we die together."

Olivia thought for a moment. "Wow. I'm good at rhymes."

Tina, still on the brink of tears, smiled a bit. "Fine. But promise that none of you will die."

"Can't guarantee it but I can try!" Olivia called with her mouth full of one of Jacob's croissants. Everyone laughed. Tina did love this newfound family.
