Part Fifteen: Journey To Russia

1962. Russian Military Retreat. Russia.

Svet's POV.

Russia. The last place I'd expected be ever. Memories of my childhood with my Mama and Papa were resurfacing. The day Papa was killed set my powers off when his body hit floor of our home in St. Petersburg. Nikolai Romanov. I wonder if he'd be proud of me, as he'd suspected I had abilities from the age of 4, when I refused to eat my oatmeal and used telekinesis to thrown it against the kitchen walls.

We were now smuggled in the back of a truck, well the others were. Moira and I were up front, I was only in the front because I could speak Russian. Fluently. I knocked on the wooden flap of the truck, as Charles and Erik lifted it open as I looked back at them.

"We've got a problem" Moira explained.

"What?" Charles asked.

"I'm so sorry. This wasn't on the map" I finished, as a gate with Russian military guards was enforced near the edge of the path we needed to take.

"No matter what happens, act normally. I'll take care of this, all right? Now, listen to me." Charles said, as he closed the flap.

As I stopped the truck, a soldier asked me "Куда вы собираетесь?" Where are you going?

"на нашу ферму" I replied, gesturing to Moira and myself. To our farm

A sniffer dog barked and growled as it sniffed and scratched the side of the truck where it smelt humans. The mutants!

"открыть спину" the Soldier ordered. Open the back.

"Как Вам понравится" I responded, as I climbed out of the back of the truck and opened the back, to find the mutants aiming guns at us, with Erik sitting casually and Charles' fingers on his temples, using his abilities to make the guard not able to see them.

"что-нибудь там?" Another guard asked. Anything back there?

"Ничего. это пусто" the Guard next to me replied. Nothing. It's empty.

"Всё окей?" I asked. Everything okay?

"Да" he responded. Yes.

I closed the doors to the back of the truck, walking back to the truck, shutting the driver's door and starting the ignition.

Small time skip

Looking through our binoculars, we noticed that only Emma Frost had came out of the helicopter into the military base. No Shaw, or the tornado guy or the demon dude I'd seen whilst reading Moira's mind, looking through her memories.

"Where's Shaw?" Erik demanded, his voice low.

"I don't know. But if she's a telepath and I read her, she'll know we're here. Let me try something else. Svet, stay out of her head" Charles replied as I nodded, as he placed his hands fingers on his temple.

"He's not coming" Charles informed after watching Emma enter the building with the General.

"So what now, boss?" I joked, as Moira sent me a glare.

" Now nothing. We're here for Shaw. Mission aborted" Moira declared.

"The hell it is." Erik hissed, trying to get up.

"Erik..." I began, putting a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"She's his right-hand woman. That's good enough for me" Erik replied.

"The CIA invading the home of a senior Soviet official? Are you crazy?" Moira whispered.

"I'm not CIA" Erik responded, grabbing my wrist, as we crawled through the forest towards the base.

"Erik!" I heard Charles hiss.

Another Small Time Skip

I watched as Erik used his powers to wrap the barbed wire around the soldiers. I used my powers of sound manipulation to send high pitched noises into their ears, as one wreathed in pain due to the high pitch. Erik shifted his hand up to move the gate up for the two of us as he grabbed my hand, as we ran into the front yard of the military retreat.

The guards were ready to fire at us, but Erik and I outstretched our arms and tripped them over, one guard each. Then, we continued running. Erik kicked a guard in the face as he tried to trip me up. As we made our way inside, Erik took apart the guns of two of the guards, as I used my telekinesis to trip them over. I followed Erik down the halls of the military retreat, as he kept a grip on my hand.

Charles eventually caught up with us and the three of us burst into the room where Emma Frost was. She seemed to have cast an illusion that made it seem to the General like he was having sex with her, but in reality, Emma sat on the sofa in her underwear eating a cracker.

"You understand what he's saying, Svetka?" Erik asked me.

"I wish I didn't" I replied, shaking the nasty images of what the General was saying out of my mind.

"Nice trick" Charles commented, and just like that, the General snapped out of it. He demanded to know who we were and began to look around the room as Emma smiled at him.

The General reached for his gun and aimed it at us, but Charles said "Go to sleep", and using his mutation to knock the General out. Emma shifted into her gorgeous diamond form, which was incredible. Charles placed two fingers on his right temple, trying to read Emma's mind in her diamond form.

"You can stop trying to read my mind, sugar." Emma said, as Charles winced from trying to read her mind, but was getting blocked out. "You're never going to get anything from me while I'm like this".

Emma tried to run, but Charles, Erik and I caught her. Erik manipulated the metal framing of the bed, so it bound her arms to the bedposts.

"So then you can just tell us. Where's Shaw?" Erik seethed, looking down at Emma.

She didn't answer, so Erik used his powers to wrap a piece of metal from the bedpost around her neck, strangling her.

"Erik.." Charles and I said in unison.

Erik didn't reply, instead he used more of the metal parts from the bedposts to secure her arms, preventing her escape.

"Erik, that's enough.." Charles warned.

Erik only made the grip of the metal bedpost stronger. Hearing Emma's diamond form start to crack, Charles was at his breaking point.

"Erik, that's enough!" Charles snapped, as Emma's diamond form shattered, returning her to her blonde hair and blue eyed self.

The metal binding around her neck had gone back to it's original position, only leaving her arm and wrists secured in place.

"All yours" was all Erik said. "She won't be shifting into diamond form again. If she does, give her a gentle tap".

Charles crouched down to read Emma's mind as I stood and watched. As he closely observed reading Emma's mind, a smile played on her lips. Charles' two fingers rested on his right temple, like they usually were.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Emma said as Charles slowly removed his fingers from his temple.

"This is worse than we previously imagined" Charles said to Erik and I, turning his head to look at Erik, then switching to look at myself, then back at Emma.

"We're taking you with us. CIA will want to question you themselves" I added.

" I doubt it. They have bigger things to worry about right now" Emma responded.
