The week had passed as smoothly as it could when Mireia seemed to loathe Draco. Luna spend half the week calming Mireia and apologizing to Draco.
It was too much sometimes, and she stayed up late at night by the shore, asking the stars what to do.
"Mireia stop!" Luna yelled, snatching the paintbrush from her daughters hand.
A wail sprang from the girls mouth and Luna lashed out in a moment of anger, her hand flying to touch flesh.
"Mireia-I- why were you painting on the walls?"
Mireia huffed, and stared with watering eyes at her mother. Hurt flashed in them and her lip quivered.
Luna watched her daughter run off into the hills, blonde hair streaming behind her.
Luna clutched the still warm paintbrush and slid to the floor, the mossy wall softening her face, the sun illuminating her crying eyes.
A heavy weight at her shoulder forced her to open her eyes, and she smiled weakly at Draco, who was crouched beside her.
She turned and buried her head in his chest, hearing his heartbeat, feeling the rise and fall of his chest and the security of his arms around her.
"Draco, am I a bad mother?" She asked with a hiccup as she leaned back and wiped her tears.
Draco rubbed her back and kisses her forehead, sitting in the dirt and putting an arm around her said, "No, you aren't. Every child goes through this stage."
Luna sniffed and brought her knees to her chest. "I know, but, what if she becomes a spoiled brat?"
Draco's eyes hardened and he stared in the direction Mireia had run off.
"I'm going to teach her how to ride a bike."
Luna stared worriedly at him. "Draco, I'm not so sure-."
He stood and brushed the dirt off his pants, extending an arm down to help her up. "First a four wheeled bike, then a two wheeled bike."
Luna accepted the hand and was hauled up by Draco. "If your sure."-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-
Luna, now sure that Draco was strong enough to care for Mireia at home, went into town a few weeks later.
A bakery accepted her job offer and she worked there from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and then she worked in a coffee shop until 10:00.
She earned $19.5 per day, at the bakery. But that wasn't enough, that's why the coffee shop was her other job.
The coffee shop paid her $11.25 for the 4 hours she worked there, so in total she had $30.75 a day.
This she explained to Mireia every time she asked for something.
"Mireia, mommy only makes $30.75 a day."
In an entire week that was $215.25 but most of it was used for taxes and such.
Countless of nights Draco and Luna stayed up counting money and how to make end meets.
"Luna, there's no way we can continue to live in this lighthouse and have enough money." Draco said firmly as they peered over mathematical equations and too little money.
Luna bit her lip. "Yes, but, Mireia was born here, and my flowers!"
Draco shifted in his seat and grabbed her hand. "Luna, what is it your not telling me?"
Luna buried her head in her hands and sobbed. "Draco, remember when we left Mireia with the babysitter and got drunk?"
Draco nodded slightly, afraid of where this was going.
"Well, I missed my period." Luna continued.
Draco felt his hopes sink. Not another baby.
"But I haven't brought a pregnancy test, so I could still be wrong!"
"We can do it by magic. Right now." Draco told her, standing and helping her stand as well.
He muttered some incantations and tapped her stomach, then her head.
"If It's green, it's negative, blue, positive."
Luna nodded and clasped her hands behind her back as she stared at the orb of light that appeared.
It was a very dark blue.
"Merlin." Draco cursed, falling back into his chair.
Luna burst into tears. "I can't believe it! No, you must've done it wrong!" She cried out.
Draco shushed her. "You'll wake Mireia."
Luna felt numb. She sat back in her chair and stared at the floorboards, counting the lines.
"When this baby is born we won't be able to afford the baby, Luna. We need to move."
So every day Draco would take Mireia house shopping, while Luna worked.
Draco tried not to loose his temper over Mireia, when she asked for ice cream even though he'd already explained they didn't have enough money, when she touched something in the house and it slipped and it almost broke.
Luna tried not to seem cranky or irritable, as it would most likely get her fired.A/N
Ok, I'm not British. I don't know if they pay taxes their, or bills, o what their coffee shop/bakery salary is. I'm going with what I know!
Enjoy, and comment!
