Jayne had spent a few weeks in Telepylus' infirmary doing therapy to be able to walk properly again. Her birthday had passed during the weeks, not that she really cared. What she really cared about was Desmideus' birthday, which was one week away, one week until this whole shitstorm starts and the game officially begins.

Roderick would visit from time to time and Jayne would give hints and tricks that she could remember about the game and characters so that he knew what he was doing and if anything unexpected happens he would know what to do. Not that Jayne herself knew what to do when the unexpected happens, she was just very good at making up spontaneous lies. Roderick would need moral support if he was going to carry this out successfully.

But Jayne could fully walk again, and it was time to take Abraham with her, at least temporarily. She still believed that being together would be dangerous in the long term, but there may be no long term if he stays in Telepylos

She made her up the hill but walked up the opposite side of the pathway, not wanting to be easily spotted in the middle of the day and the fact that the stables were behind the castle. All Jayne needed to do was act like she belonged and no one would question her. She found an isolated part of the land and climbed over the fence, landing in a bush that broke her fall. She approached the stables.

That white horse they arrived on years ago was there, staring at her as if she were a familiar face, yet the horse couldn't quite place it, it neighed at the sight of her which caused the stableboy to turn his attention toward's the horse.

"Easy there, girl." He laughed and stroked her head.

"A-Abraham?"

The boy in question turned around, humming at being called until he saw who it was, "Jayne!" He cried and ran towards her, discarded the horse and hugging her in a suffocating embrace, "Jayne, Jayne, Jayne." He muttered like her name was a prayer and that the gods finally granted his wish of seeing her again. Rubbing his head into her hair and sniffing it like an addict suffering from withdrawal, "Jayne, Jayne, Jayne."

"I've missed you too." She laughed, moving her hand in soft strokes across his back, not knowing what effect that had on him.

"Are you actually here? Or am I just dreaming again." He pulled his face away to look at her, but still held her tightly, fearing if he lost grip she would fade away.

"I'm here, and I'm sorry." She grabbed onto both sides of his cheeks, "But we need to talk, so you have a minute?"

"For you, of course."

-

They were in Abraham's room. Both of them sitting on his bed.

"Listen, there's no easy way to say this, so... I want you to come with me, away from Telephylus-"

"Yes." Abraham immediately replied, causing Jayne to stutter.

"I-I didn't even explain why-"

"I don't care," He grabbed ahold of her hands, "Jayne, when I read that letter, my life ended, if you wanted to leave, you should've told me, I don't care about Telepylos,  don't care where I am, as long as it's by your side, I'm content."

Jayne snivelled and couldn't contain her tears, never in her life had anyone said something so sweet, which is why it was so painful, "Abraham..." She could leave him, she couldn't abandon him, not when he needed, he was right. They could be happy together, just somewhere away from all this chaos. "Thank you." She leapt and hugged him, together they fell into the bed and basked in each other's presence.

"What was the reason you came back?" He said after he came off his high of seeing her.

Jayne sat up, "The ball is happening next week, and Octavia is going to be there, if she sees you..." tears formed at just the thought, "I don't want to imagine what would happen."

Abraham sat up and cupped her cheek, "You care." He smiled playfully.

"Of course I care!" She slapped his arm

"If you really did you wouldn't have left me." His voice became threateningly low, leaning his head towards her, giving her no personal space

Jayne shivered under him, "I already said I was sorry... I was foolish for my irrational thinking."

"Yeah, you were." He leaned in even closer, their foreheads touching. Jayne wasn't going to be the one to initiate it, but she certainly wasn't going to pull away.

"Hey, roomie!" The door burst open and Abraham's roommate burst in, Jayne and Abraham both scurrying to the opposite sides of the bed, "Oh shit, sorry to disturb you two but... boss is looking for you."

Abraham scowled then laughed angrily, "I'll be out it a minute." He said sternly, gesturing with his head to leave.

"Don't be long." He closed the door.

"I'm... sorry about that." He scratched his head.

"It's okay." She mumbled.

"I'll be back in a few, wait here, and we can leave together tonight, yeah?" He smiled with just as much enthusiasm and love as a puppy would.

"Yeah." She nodded. Abraham grinned and kissed the top of her head and left.

Jayne bit her hand and was left to her thoughts, giddy at imagining what was to come spending time with him. If both of them were to leave tonight, he'd need to pack his bag. With nothing to do, Jayne thought to make herself useful and start for him.

She went to his wardrobe and pulled out the draws, finding plain shirts and pants and putting them in a bag. She reached his sock and underwear draw and started piling them in until she reached the bottom and found something peculiar.

It was underwear, girl's underwear. Jayne couldn't fault him if he bedded someone while she was away, but bringing them closer towards her, she noticed the pattern in the stitching looked familiar and realised it was her underwear.

"What the fuck?" She dropped them, "Why does he have that?"
