Okay. Okay. Calm down, Jayne. So Abraham's a bit of a pervert, so what? There are far worse crimes out there. Jayne tried convincing herself that Abraham's abnormality was customary behaviour. She then heard footsteps approaching the door, causing Jayne to kick the knickers underneath his bed.

"Hey~" Jayne squirmed.

"Hi... what's all this?" Abraham pointed towards his bag being filled with clothes.

"Oh, well, you know... if we're gonna leave then, we need to pack, I thought I could help."

Abraham sighed, "Ah Jayne, you're such a sweetheart." He leapt towards Jayne but she quickly jumped away from him, "Everything alright?"

Jayne crept towards the door, "What? No, I'm fine, I'm just... constipated, where's the toilet?"

"Oh, well, it's just down the hall-"

"Great, I'll find it." Jayne slammed the door shut. She ran outside towards the gardens to take a nice breath of fresh air. She couldn't see Abraham again, she just needed to calm herself down a bit.

"Jayne?"

She turned around to towards the voice that was calling her, "Oh for fuck's sake." She whispered.

"What are you doing here, I thought you would've left by now." Christopherus approached her.

"Didn't you hear? The wagon got attacked by bandits."

Christopher's face turned into mortification, "Oh by the gods, are you alright?" He gently grabbed her shoulder

"No, I actually died and your talking to a ghost version of me." She shrugged him off.

His face slightly relaxed at Jayne's banter, but it still held worry, "I'm so sorry... it's ironic though, isn't it? For the year I watched over you nothing happened, but the one time you're on your own something bad happened." He laughed bitterly.

"It's okay, luckily Roderick was there to save me."

"Roderick?"

Shit, "J-Just a friend."

"A friend? I didn't know you had one of those, you were quite a recluse in Phaecia."

"Ha." She monotonously laughed, "Very funny, we met when he saved my life and stayed with me in the infirmary for the few weeks it took me to heal."

"You were in an infirmary?!

"Oh... yeah, I, kinda... got shot," She scratched the back of her head, "No big deal though."

Christopherus let out a soft scream and rubbed his face, "How in the world are you able to act so calmly and humorously during every situation." He asked that more as a rhetorical question, not actually expecting an answer.

"Constantly thinking about the negativity in life stains your heart a little, it's easier to become depressed if you allow the horrors of the world to consume your mind." Jayne took on a serious note, somehow reminiscing of previous memories she had forgotten, almost as if she knew what it was like to be in a dark place before, and never wanted to go there again, "They say laughter is the best medicine, humour is good for the soul, keeps the light on. I don't consider myself to be irreverent, I know when to be serious, I've already experienced the death of a loved one before and it's not... nice." Jayne smiled with tears in her eyes, "But... when I can, I make light of any situation."

Chris stood there dumbfounded and sighed heavily.

"What?"

"I can understand with his highness would want to make sure you remain safe if you spurt insightful stuff every once in a while." He crossed his arms.

"What do you mean?"

"Well," He strode forward, "His highness is accustomed to trifling matters, no one dares talk so casually towards him and those who do don't really have anything valuable to say, and given your... brazen behaviour at times I feel he is no exception to your formalities, in which your etiquette lacks."

Jayne raised a brow, "What?"

"When I informed his highness that you burnt his letter he seemed to amused by it, as if that behaviour was to expected by you."

Jayne rolled her head, "What's your point anyway?"

"Nothing... you're just interesting, that's all, what are you even doing here by the way, did you change your mind about leaving?" He grew slightly excited.

"No... I'm leaving here with Abraham."

"Abraham?"

"Uhh..." Jayne should really shut her mouth, "I came here for him weeks ago, he was my sick friend, and we decided to leave the capital together."

"Oh." He sounded dejected, "At least you'll have somebody by your side."

"Yeah... well, I should go back inside."

"I guess this is farewell, Jayne." He held out his hand for her to shake, in which she did.

"Farewell."

Jayne was the one to leave and retreat back into the block of rooms where Abraham was, Chris watching her leave until he figure was gone.

And that would be the end for both of them if Desmideus hadn't seen the entire interaction from his balcony.
