My black dress was too short and too tight. Just the way I liked it.
The music was blaring, and the drink in my cup was way too strong.
It was working, however.
My brain wasn't focused on Ever Walker, or the mind games he was playing with my emotions.
I was only focused on the burning in my throat every time I took a sip.
"Sybil, this seems a little counterproductive, wouldn't you say?" Kaden frowns at me, his eyes judging everyone who passed by us.
This wasn't our normal spot, but going to a pack party seemed a little too hostile for my liking.
This was a bar in town that didn't ID minors and of course, I had to drag my Beta with me, much to his dismay.
"Just loosen up! You look like a narc!" I giggle back at him, making his frown deepen.
"What happened to the Sybil from this morning? You were so focused on claiming your title." Kaden shakes his head in confusion.
I tip back the rest of the contents in my cup, smiling at my best friend.
"It doesn't matter how hard I want to be different, this is who I am." I hiccup, my vision finally beginning to blur.
This was a feeling that I was addicted to.
No worries, no stress, no disappointed fathers, and no Walker.
Kaden shakes his head, "This isn't you, Sybil. You just think it is."
Rolling my eyes, I turn back to the bar to order another drink.
Kaden follows closely behind me, not a single drop of alcohol on his lips.
I move passed the hoards of humans, muttering apologies as my feet move on their own accord.
Once I finally reach the bar, I gasp at a random drink just sitting on the counter.
My cloudy mind told me that the moon goddess had left it as her offering for giving me such a fucking horrible week.
So I picked up the cup filled with clear liquid and chug it.
Kaden snatches the cup away from me, a stern look in his brown eyes.
"Sybil, please. Let's get you home, you have training with Alpha Walker in the morning." Kaden pleads with me, looking beyond stressed.
I shove him away from me, glaring at him sharply.
"I don't care about Walker, he can go fuck himself!" I scream loudly, attracting the attention of a few humans lingering about.
Kaden clenches his jaw at my drunken state, looking like a father punishing a child.
"Walker is trying to help you, and you're not taking it seriously!" Kaden shakes his head, grabbing me as I attempt to take another free drink.
"Walker just wants to hurt my feelings, and to punch me." I slur out, falling back into Kaden's arms.
Kaden groans loudly, "that's it, I'm taking you home."
