Denki woke up first that morning, just as he had the day before, but this time he had no intention of staying in bed. He carefully crawled over Eijirou, trying not to wake him, but Eijirou stirred anyway.
"Baby, what you doin'?"
Denki paused, now sitting on Eijirou with a pout, "I didn't want to wake you, but I needed to get out of bed."
Eijirou chuckled, "Mission failure," he placed his hands on Denki's hips, "Stay with me. Don't go."
Denki shook his head, gently moving Eijirou's hands aside and getting out of bed, "Just go back to sleep."
Eijirou sat up with a frown, "Only if you do too."
"No," Denki went over to his desk, turned on the small lamp, and sat on the floor, "I need to find something."
"What's so important at—" Eijirou glanced at the clock, "Christ, Denki, it's 5 a.m. Come back to bed."
Denki shook his head and rummaged through the bottom drawer of his desk.
Eijirou sighed and joined him on the floor, "What are you looking for?"
"The thing I wanted to show you. I can't sleep until I find it."
"If you tell me what it is, I can help you find—"
"No!"
"Okay, okay. Quiet down," Eijirou rubbed Denki's shoulder, "If you shout, you'll wake Iida and he'll get mad."
Denki nodded, sighing, "Right... Sorry." He glanced at Eijirou and chuckled, "Your hair looks ridiculous."
"Oh god, how bad is it?"
Denki laughed more, "Go look in the mirror."
Eijirou got up and did as suggested. His hair was a tangled mess from sleeping without washing out the hairspray or brushing out the teasing. "Well, that's going to be a pain to fix."
"Go take a shower."
Eijirou looked back at Denki, hesitant to leave him alone, "Later. There's still plenty of time."
Denki rolled his eyes, "Eiji, just go. I'll be fine until you get back."
Eijirou hesitated. Denki seemed happy now. Fidgety, but happy, "Okay. I'll be quick."
Denki stood and kissed Eijirou, "I'm fine, Eiji. I'm just restless and want to find... this thing. But I'm fine. Go take a shower, take as much time as you need."
Eijirou gave him another kiss, "Okay. But please lay down when you find it."
Denki nodded, "I will. Just go."
Eijirou gave him a final kiss before leaving.
Denki watched him go, sighing when the door closed. He resumed his search, knowing the item was somewhere in his room. His grandmother had made him bring it to the dorms.
He couldn't recall where he had hidden it. He'd stashed it away, deliberately forgetting its location, as it was filled with too many painful memories he'd been trying to suppress. For a long time, he had managed to keep those memories at bay, but now Eijirou had unwittingly dragged them back to the surface. The memories were rushing back, almost overwhelming him.
He eventually found it, buried deep in his closet: a scrapbook. His heart raced, and he squeezed his eyes shut. He wasn't ready for this, but he had to confront it and explain to Eijirou.
He stood there, eyes shut, taking deep breaths. Finally, he opened his eyes and looked at the scrapbook. It was decorated with black lightning bolts and 'chargebolt' embroidered in cursive. It was made by his grandmother, filled with his childhood.
