Song: Gravity - Sara Bareilles
Even though his outer appearance showed happiness, there was hatred, hurt, and depression inside of him.
It was time for him to leave, so we walked onto the lawn from the beach path, and I said hi to his parents, and his sister. Suddenly, they all needed to go to the restroom, so that left us two alone.
I knew he cutted, because he wanted to fit in, and be accepted, and be happy.
Bottling up all his feelings didn't help either.
On the outside he was just happy, happy, happy, but on the inside he needed someone to love him.
I grabbed his arms and I caressed his scars as I said, "Promise me something."
"What?"
"Don't cut. For me. Please. You are worth much more than that. It breaks my heart to see you unhappy."
"I can't-"
"Yes you can; I'm here to help you, no matter what. Okay?"
"Okay."
As I heard the water be turned on in the sink, I knew that this was our last moment together. He wasn't coming to school tomorrow, and I wasn't going to see him all summer.. So I said bye with one last hug, and inhaled his smell so I could remember his scent for the remainder of the summer.
I whispered "Remember the promise, bye," in his ear and walked away.
