"Bless us lord, this christmas with quietness of mind,"My heart was beating out of this world fast. I couldn't control my thoughts. My thoughts of her that is. Dana Washington. I could stare at her mouth for days. The way her mouth formed every word, every syllable. How can a stranger have this much of an affect on me? Oh god she licked her lips.
"Teach us to be patient and to always be kind." Dana says folding up the little paper.
Our eyes locked on each other as she took her seat back at the table in the front. Whew what a woman. Leslie stood behind the podium again, telling us that the food was finished and that children eat first, of course the ankle biters eat first. We stood in line for what felt like forever. There were greens, mac and cheese, ham, green beans and other things I've never seen. I stuck to the foods I knew of, mac and cheese, ham and green beans. I grabbed a can of sprite soda and head back to the table. Marvin made his way back to the table with his plate stacked all the way to the ceiling. My eyes roamed completely over the somewhat small sanctuary for Miss Washington. Ah there she is, sitting with a group of chatty mouth girls. She's right in my line of view.
I couldn't take my eyes off of her, she's quite the looker I'll say and apparently all smiles as she spoke with her friends. Dana squares her shoulders and lean into the table whispering to the girls, about something I wish I knew about. Wishing that my lips were wrapped around hers, instead they're wrapped around this cold can of sprite.
"So when are you going to ask her out?" Marvin says in between sips of his drink.
"Huh?"
"Huh? You heard me, when are you going to ask her out?"
"Well gosh I don't know, when I am not engaged."
"So why are you here actively pursuing her then? Why did you lie to Charity about where you are? I know you're engaged, but do you know you're engaged? And word of advice, if you want her, you might want to stop saying you're engaged out loud." Marvin whispered.
"I just wanted to know her name, it was bothering me not knowing what her name is. I don't know why I lied to Charity-"
"Do that little girly thing you do when you move your hair around. Hurry, they're looking at you!" Marvin says, pulling his drink to his lips.
I slouch back into the chair and run my fingers through my hair. Moving it around then back into place over to the left side of my face. My eyes flicker to Dana as I give her a little grin. Now let's see how Miss Washington keeps her cool. She propped her elbows on the table as she cupped her face. A staring contest? Really? I won't take it easy on you either Miss Washington.
"It's nice seeing young men in the church. Good evening, I'm Deacon Waters and yourselves?"
Nice to meet you sir but I'm in the middle of stare off. My focus is still on Dana as I introduce myself. Deacon cock block makes himself comfortable at the table and continues to talk. My focus remains on Dana who is attempting to seduce me with her mesmerizing green eyes and delicious mouth. I wish he would leave so I can focus on her. I am a physician assistant at the medical center, yes I like what I do, now leave me alone; I have a staring contest to win.
"She's quite a woman isn't she? Beautiful and graceful... so Oscar, how did you hear about the Christmas program?" You have my attention now jackass.
"Its Oliver, I was invited by Leslie." I say trying not to sound pissed. How the hell do you get Oscar out of Oliver. Fuck where did she go? Calm down Oliver. Think of a way out of this sausage fest conversation.
