Takara stood up tall and began walking normally the next day. He started practicing basic movement to recover from the beatings. The day after, we went to school.
"You two did what!?" Brianna looked at both of us. My face burned but I kept a smile on my face. Takara kept a semi-neutral expression but his eyes gave him away. "B-b-but you're siblings!"
I leaned my head on Takara's shoulder. "We know."
Derrik's face formed into a grin. "So are you both going to Winter Formal together?"
Takara held up his original ticket then slid his thumb across the front to reveal a second ticket. I gasped.
"You got me a ticket?"
He smiled. "Of course I did. Why wouldn't I?"
I hugged him. "Thank you."
Brianna and Derrik both sat there with their jaws dropped. I giggled. Takara extended his free arm with $60 in hand.
"If you both want to go, here is $60 to pay for the tickets." He handed it to Brianna. "Ask him."
Their cheeks were as bright as a forest fire. Brianna turned to Derrik.
"D-do you w-want to go to W-W-Winter... Formal wi-with me?"
Derrik turned to Takara for guidance. Takara simply nodded.
"I-I... I will g-go with y-you."
Takara and I struggled not to laugh.
"Shut up!" They said in unison.
We all sighed. "Guess we'll see each other at Winter Formal," I said.
"Takara, are you going to tutoring," Derrik asked.
"I have no reason to," Takara said. "I'm going to stay for the rest of lunch."
"Awesome," Brianna cheered. "Then lets talk about anime!"
"Or we could talk about your date," I joked.
"Shut up," the two shouted in unison.
