I looked myself in the mirror. I had brushed my hair until it was as straight as possible. I had a small bright blue bow placed in my hair. I wore a snow white dress with no straps and high heels. I made sure to take off all of my bracelets and made sure nothing could slip.
"Are you ready," Takara asked.
"I'm coming," I called back.
When I got to the stairs I looked down to see Takara staring back up at me with mom standing beside him.
Takara wore a white suit with a winter blue necktie. His hair was combed down and his scars were covered with a little bit of makeup.
"You both look amazing," my mom squealed. "Let me take a picture!"
Takara bit his lip. I giggled. "Don't like pictures?"
Takara smiled. "I don't know."
"Smile!" The camera flashed and we were on our way.

The Winter Formal was being held in the cafeteria. They moved all the tables out, set up a DJ, and dimmed the lights slightly. A microphone was set up beside the DJ. There were several chairs lined up against the walls for the wall flowers and a table of refreshments resting in front of the serving windows. Students were dressed formally and were talking to each other while they waited for the music.
We found Derrik and Brianna awkwardly sitting next to each other on the chairs.
"Too nervous?" We sat beside them. "Its just a dance. Its not like you have to kiss each other."
"Says the sibling couple," Derrik mumbled.
"Seriously. You're going to do this in public," Brianna asked. "Aren't you afraid of what the other students might say?"
Someone tapped on the microphone and everyone's attention was turned to the source. It was Student Council President Harrison Blanks. Beside him stood his vice president, Parker Mists.
Harrison was a young looking junior with curly red hair that fell perfectly above his handsome blue eyes. He always had girls fighting over him and his confidence kept people from voting on anyone else.
"Hello and welcome to the seventeenth annual Winter Formal," he greeted. That earned a minor applause. "By attending this dance, you not only allow this event to continue next year, but you'll be supporting the school with all the funds going to improve the technology the school can use. I'll now let Vice President Parker speak."
He stepped away from the mic and Parker stepped forward. Parker had long white hair that was braided down to her hip. Her winter blue eyes earned her Winter Formal Queen, giving her the name Crystal Winters. Her beauty and time spent with Harrison started rumors of the two dating. The two don't deny nor accept the rumor, allowing it to spread.
"I want to thank everyone for being here today," she began, "but at the same time I want to acknowledge how well everyone looks." Smirks and blushes spread across the crowd. "Please enjoy yourself to the fullest. The dance will go on until 10 o' clock so take your time and have fun."
A roar of applause.
The DJ opened up his laptop and tapped a key on his keyboard. Slow music began to play and the students began dancing with their dates.
I grabbed Takara's hand and pulled him onto the dance floor. We faced each other and intertwined our fingers together. We moved and swayed with the music, making my heart fill with overwhelming pleasure. I leaned into Takara's chest and put my hands on his shoulders. He placed his hands on my hips and we continued to dance.
